The housing situation was a mess, but Zack honestly didn't care. When he came back to the tightly packed rooms Shinra had put up for them, he was tired enough that he could sleep on the floor. But there was a mattress and a coffee maker and a shower, and that was all he really cared about.
He had meant to come in a few hours sooner, but there had been a family that had lost a child in the crowds, and then a whole group of infected people hiding in the sewers, and -- well, always something to keep him up a little longer. But he was weaving on his feet, and he'd do nobody any good if he passed out. He could spare a few hours for a nap.
The coffee pot was running when he got back, which meant Cloud was already up. Oh well. It was good to have his smaller friend around again, a sort of soothing levelness for when things got to be too much -- and that, they were getting to be, honestly.
“Morning, Cloud,” he called as he ambled in, yawning. He began unstrapping his sword and then all his armor, one piece at a time.
