Ryan liked the blackout. The power being gone was bad, sure, but no longer having school or work was amazing. And with the humans confined indoors she could do anything she wanted. She was running through the streets, not forced to mitigate her speed, and jumping all over everything. She looked like a really fast but not talented parkour artist from an outside perspective. After a bit she sat on a bench, turning to face the other person seated there. “You know, some people say that wolves can only full shift on the moon, but people also say there is no such thing as ghosts. They’re all wrong of course.” The energy might have left the power grid, but somehow Ryan felt like she had all the energy in the world. “Fun fact, I have like, the softest fur ever as a wolf. Wanna feel?”

Ilana entered the apartment with a large grin on their face. “Okay, so it’s not much, but I grabbed who I saw and also a muffin which is as close to a cake as I could find. There’s some candles, and all this to say Happy Birthday.” The blackout had happened and there was so much chaos, she’d wanted to be sure that Lucian didn’t feel forgotten. He had a knack for playing things off like he didn’t care but he always came through when Ilana needed, so she wanted to return the favor. “We’ve got a ragtag group, so I also just grabbed a bunch of bottles that I had, and I’m requesting that you come through on that promise to introduce me to a drink that isn’t for sad lawyers.”

Ryan was having the weekend of her life. Law school and work were both not a concern with no power, and for the first time since starting school up again she felt totally free. It wasn’t to say that she didn’t still party when she had time, but there was something about knowing she didn’t need to wake up and remedy the hangover for a class that made it sweeter. She was packing a bowl with weed when the delectable scent of pizza hit her nostrils. She turned to see Santiago with a pizza box in hand, and waved him over. “If you’re willing to give me a slice or two of that I will absolutely share this.” She raised the bowl and lighter in her hand. Sharing food and weed seemed like a great way to get to know anyone in her personal opinion.

where: just outside of Sorrel’s Apothecary

Ilana grinned, meeting Logan outside of the shop. “Perfect timing, what’s a candle without a flame to light it.” Ilana had a lighter or two around, but living with Logan meant that she didn’t really need them all that often. “I’ve got a few specific people to drop candles with, but I figured we could give them to whoever we pass on the way that wants one?” She knew that other businesses were increasing prices on candles and chargers and whatever one would need in the case of a blackout like this, but something about that didn’t sit well with Ilana. So, here she was, carrying a bag full of candles from the store’s stock to hand out. She could afford the cut in profit this month. “God, this month really is just one thing after another, huh? What do you think caused the blackout?”

where: lucian’s apt.

"That is an incredible amount of glowsticks.” Ilana raised their eyebrows before regarding Mylene. It was hard to take anyone with glowstick glasses seriously and she couldn’t help the snort that escaped her lips. “Alright, I mean in the party spirit we should definitely deck me out, and then we can team up to get Lucian and Mira to participate.” Ilana knew Leyla would have no qualms about glowsticks, but somehow she didn’t think Mira or Lu would take part unless they’d already gotten drunk. “I’m glad you could make it for a little gathering though. It’s good that Lu and Leyla can have a little something.”

She's nervous.

Her hands are shaking, her lips are quivering.

It wasn't normal for her to wear a dress and heels, so of course she felt out of place.

But it's so pretty, with her hair all fluffed-up and her eyes looking brighter than usual. Her face looks softer, more well-defined... a nude lip makes her smile look brighter.

And her dress... It's such a rosy red, and she looks even tanner than before... and it's so simple, the whole outfit, that she looks impressively different, yet still... familiar?

Eliza can't stop staring into the mirror, shaky digits fiddling with the lace on her dress.

Was she pretty enough for this? Or, at least, was she pretty enough for a good date?

Was she ready for a date?

The thought makes her mind quiet itself and she's still staring. She's aware of Aiden with the camera, zooming around the room as he socializes with the other kids being auctioned. And she's vaguely aware of the brief stares she's been receiving since she's arrived; then again, she can't even stop staring.

But there's also a small sense of pride as she looks in the mirror. Look at her... Eliza was sure she could be actually glowing.

So despite the uneasiness, she has to smile a little to herself. Even if the date didn't turn out well, at least there was something good that came out of it.
