tl;dr: August fights in the war, but gets swept up in his own confidence, and gets caught in the black smoke.
After killing that stupid little vampire, August scurried on back to the war raging on down the block at the park. There weren’t many others to scold, so he joined in on the fight, a cause he could look forward to. He was loyal to Kyle, always had been, and always would be. And, even if there were thoughts of uprising, August could never see himself in that leadership role. Second in command was good enough for him.
He fought mercilessly, easily ripping others apart and tearing out everything they were. The vampires were the most fun, their bellies full of blood that painted the dead grass. By the time dusk came around, an entire scene of some biblical proportion painting had been properly laid out before him, and there was still massive reckonings going on. Team-ups were popular, and August easily interjected himself into multiple arguments, pushing the opposing force away, and ripping out their heart, or crushing the skull. He bit too many people to count and it all felt good.
Things continued like that well into the evening before a dark strolling cloud rolled in, something that many didn’t see coming. As August fought the good fight, a sudden terror of panic rushed by him, and while he was too focused ont he fight at hand, he pounced another person before it was too late. People were fleeing around him, and after making sure nobody was going to suddenly attack from behind, he turned around and saw the massive black smoke filing through the air, and causing destruction to everything in it’s path. “Oh fuck.” He muttered under his breath. There was no time left, and, even as he began running behind the crowds, there wasn’t enough time to shift and gain some speed. The smoke caught up much too quickly. It nipped at his heels as he kept running before it finally overtook him. The bleak air became thin, much too thin to breathe in, and his running slowed down to a halt, as he finally felt the pressure squeezing in on his body. Pain escalated around him, until he finally found himself gasped for air. Falling to the ground, he caught himself with his hands, grasping at anything to keep him up. But the smoke was too powerful. He fell flat to the ground with a last groan, limply passing out.
