Evergreen Ave
From kinder to sixth
I lived in a tall
four story building
on Evergreen Ave
From Stanhope to Harmon
the block was my world
the butcher, the grocer
Frank’s candy store
I grew up secure
surrounded by friends
family and siblings
cousins and more
Childhood innocence
guarded by all
allowed me to flourish
inspired and strong
The street was my playground
the building my home
my neighborhood block
my whole universe
How could such a place
so remembered and loved
be ever forgotten …
not ever, at all
The voices and faces
the smells and the sounds
are indelibly written
in my mind’s memories
Childhood innocence guarded by all allowed me to flourish inspired and strong Click To Tweet
