It’s been a little over a year since Everybody Row’s first EP. The new single features a new original burner called “Tiny Empires” and a cover of California’s Bad Liar ‘No Direction Home’ (a band that was recorded by Everybody Row’s Jack Shirley). “Tiny Empires” is full of the flames that lit the first single hot organs, shouted vocals, with beautiful breakdown that the end that would give a bit of breathing room to what I’m sure is an intensely beautiful live performance. Bad Liar’s “No Direction Home” was a gruff punk anthem and Everybody Row have turned that track into some amazing anthemic soulful rock n’ roll lying somewhere between the Boss and the Murder City Devils. It’s pay what you want and guaranteed to make your next playlist even better.

There’s nothing quite like the ringing sound of an organ on a punk record. “The Sea Inside” is blur of punk rock n’ roll crawling out of the California hardcore/screamo scene. An initial listen brings to mind Murder City Devils with a bit of a soulful twist...but after a while it makes me start to think about if Mick Collins (of the Dirtbombs and the Gories) had played in hardcore bands his whole life learned to play the organ and then started making rock n’ roll.
Politically charged lyrics with dual vocals from Jack Shirley and Jasmine Watson bring a balance to the sound that make this a forward thinking punk record than a booze soaked brawl. Everybody Row will insure a party on the dance floor while making you think about the lyrics as you sing along...looks like they are headed to The Fest this year...lets hope for an east coast tour!
