"Budding Naturalist"
Available on Every Day Original (here: https://everydayoriginal.com/product/buddingnaturalist/)
This fine (sparsely-feathered) fellow wants nothing more in life than to catalogue the blossoms of his apple trees and be a friend to all pollinators (not just the bees). -
Inspired by a turkey vulture swooping around happily outside my studio window, by renewed life in spring after long winter, and by the joy of taking in fresh air.
Painted in watercolor, gouache and colored pencil on 140lb Arches hot press paper. Accented with genuine gold leaf and framed. The frame is embellished (by the artist) with a hand-painted bee. (If you see this painting with a different name on the EDO social media, it's because I changed my mind about the title literally yesterday. APOLOGIES FOR ANY CONFUSION)
“Speculative eyes as she drifts with the tide.”
Art Title: Tide Graphite on paper Double matted. Unframed Art Size: 7.5” x 9.5” Mat Size 11”x14” Price: $442 Link: https://everydayoriginal.com/product/tide/
Origin of Iron
A wolf was running along a swamp, the swamp rose over the feet of the wolf, iron bars grew up and lumps of steel, on the tracks of the feet of the wolf.
* I was picked as a newbie artist for @everydayoriginal and this is the piece that I made! The painting is available for sale here with more info and images!
This particular origin story has been in the back of my mind since I painted the wolf for OLD GODS and I knew I wanted to explore it more. The process of making this piece felt so fulfilling. I loved it but also wanted to start the piece over every thirty minutes but I am glad I stuck with it becase I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Find me and my art elsewhere!
My next @everydayoriginal wip!
I'll be posting a lil bit of this wip until it's release date (1/16) when it will be on sale in the Every Day Original website ✨
New detailed study, 8 x 6 inches, tomorrow morning @everydayorig “The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.” This quote from Carl Sagan represents one of the most poetic truths of our scientific reality. That the heavy elements that we are made of weren't created at the beginning of time. Only hydrogen and helium were immediate results of the Big Bang. The rest of the elements were created in the nuclear furnaces of earlier generations of stars that have since exploded and spread their material across the universe. We are literally made of stardust. #cosmicperspective #starstuff #stardust #spaceart #scienceart #carlsagan #cosmos #oilpainting #nebula #everydayoriginal https://www.instagram.com/p/CQTmQxglWOu/?utm_medium=tumblr
Available today on Every Day Original! —— It seems like I can never see very far ahead in my artistic journey. Instead, my view resembles a forest that’s overgrown with uncertainty. Making each painting is a way to clear just enough space so that I can take the next step forward. And the next step after that. This painting is a reflection on the need to create these clearings; to cut back at the invasive species of social media, website popup windows, and 10-step plans for success; to a maintain a space for creativity to breathe and grow. —— Clearing, 6”x8”, $400, oil on monoprint
