Wearing Something That Reflects Where You Are Now
Itās easy to forget that what we wear is often tied to who we were, not who we are. Clothes linger. Habits linger. Sometimes your wardrobe moves slower than your life does.
I noticed the gap when certain pieces stopped making sense. Not because they were bad or outdatedābut because they belonged to a different version of me. A faster one. A louder one. Someone who needed to prove more than I do now.
Where I am now feels steadier. My days donāt demand as much performance. I care more about flow than impression, more about ease than explanation. Naturally, I started wanting clothes that reflected that shiftāthings that felt aligned with my current pace instead of fighting it.
Wearing something that reflects where you are now doesnāt mean reinventing your style. It means paying attention. Asking whether a piece fits into your life as it actually exists. Does it work on an ordinary day? Does it feel right when nothing special is happening?
Over time, I found myself choosing simple, music-influenced everyday layers that feel grounded rather than expressive. They donāt point backward or reach too far ahead. They sit comfortably in the present, which is exactly where Iām trying to be.
Thereās relief in that kind of alignment. You stop dressing for an imagined version of yourself and start dressing for the one who shows up every day. The one who knows their routines, their limits, and their priorities.
Wearing something that reflects where you are now is a quiet form of honesty. No announcement. No justification. Just a subtle sense that what youāre wearing finally matches the life youāre living.
What I Actually Wear When I Have Places to Be
When I have places to be, getting dressed isnāt about expression ā itās about reliability. Mornings move fast. Schedules stack up. Thereās usually no extra time to negotiate with a mirror.
What I wear in those moments has already been decided by experience. Itās the result of trial and error, of knowing what works without thinking. Clothes that donāt slow me down, donāt need adjusting, and donāt demand attention during the day.
Iāve realized that my āreal-lifeā wardrobe looks very different from what I once thought style was supposed to be. Itās not built around variety or novelty. Itās built around repeatability. Pieces that feel right at 9 a.m. still make sense at 6 p.m.
When youāre moving through errands, meetings, commutes, and responsibilities, you donāt want clothes that require explanation. You want things that hold up ā physically and mentally. Thatās why something like a godspeed hoodie ends up in regular rotation. Itās easy, consistent, and dependable without being forgettable.
Thereās comfort in knowing exactly what youāre reaching for. No overthinking. No second-guessing. Just clothes that support the day instead of competing with it.
What I actually wear when I have places to be isnāt aspirational. Itās practical. And over time, Iāve learned that practicality, when chosen well, becomes its own kind of style.

A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset. Every day you wake up, think about what a privilege it is to simply be alive and healthy. Stop focusing on the negatives and everything that could go wrong and start thinking about what could go right. Better yet, think of everything that already is right. Be thankful for nights that turned into mornings, friends who turned into family and past dreams and goals that turned into realities. Use this mindset of positivity to fuel an even brighter today and tomorrow. āØāØ - John Geiger . . . #beautiful #beautifulmindset #thankfulgratefulblessed #thankfuleverydayā¤ļø #everydayroutine #simplebeautifullife (at Winter Park, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKCCFnKh4TT/?igshid=pi62xs8675wq
Blog #1: My Everyday Routine
Good morning!
My first blog today is going to be about what I do everyday whilst Iām at home in lockdown.Ā Iām currently sixteen, which means that I should be sitting my GCSEs this year, which have now been cancelled. To make up for this, I have a schedule that I follow every weekday, with my weekend as a rest.
I have my alarm set for 6:30 in the morning. This is so I can stay in the habit of waking up early, so when I eventually go back to school and start attending Sixth Form, Iām not rushing around every morning. I aim to have had my breakfast by 8 and then, I get ready for my active session and daily workout at 9. Thereās a YouTuber called The Body Coach TV, who is posting aĀ āPE with Joeā video every weekday. The videos are roughly 30 minutes long and it really helps to do them and maintain your fitness. I have done about three of these workouts and they are very effective.Ā
Once Iāve finished my workout at 9:30, I have half an hour to shower and get myself ready for my next section, which is my academic section. This section starts at 10 and then ends at 11:30. In this session, I have a range of options of things to do. I can do work thatās been assigned to me from my teachers, use websites such as Seneca (which I really recommend as a study/revision website) and writing (blog, journal, emails, letters etc.) Iām also allowed to use my laptop for this session.
After this, I have my creative session. This session carries straight on from after my academic session and includes the options of crafts, drawing, music, dancing and board games. I am a very creative person with a range of hobbies such as drawing, singing, playing instruments (guitar, ukulele and piano), song-writing and more, so I find this session to be quite enjoyable.
Lunch time! Creative session ends at half twelve, I then have an hour for lunch and Iām able to use my phone in my spare time, as throughout the day Iām not allowed to use it.
I then have another academic session, but in this one, Iām not allowed to use my laptop. This session has two options: reading a book or using study books to learn. Iāve recently just been reading, as I used to be a very avid reader, but Iāve fallen out of the habit of reading often. A book Iāve recently re-read is Blame by Simon Mayo and it is such an incredible book. Itās a young adult suspense thriller about heritage crimes, set in London. It is truly an amazing piece of writing and I definitely recommend it to everyone. This session starts at half one and then ends at three.Ā
After a fifteen minute break, I have a life skills session, which is directed by my mum. This is how me and my younger sister gain our weekly pocket money. Our options are: cooking/baking; washing/putting clothes away; cleaning; gardening and hoover/wash the cars. This ends at four and then I have free time for the rest of the day.
I recommend this sort of schedule to anyone who is bored in their homes or just wants something to follow. In case anyone does, use this blog as a reference or you can completely change it around. Itās up to you.Ā
Thanks for reading!
