I read somewhere that ‘Do Ya Thing’ isn’t canon to the Gorillaz lore? Is that true?

I mean. They lived in that house for a while. They did a converse sponsorship. Murdoc probably hit 2D in the head with a shoe... But Russel wouldn't have been still unnaturally big at the time according to current lore and theres no conceivable reason that the Boogieman would be there. It kind of doesn't matter if it's "canon" because nothing actually happens in that MV as far as story goes. Murdoc is mean, 2D is sad. Nothing new. As far as the characterization that takes place with the implication of 2D desiring that thier relationship was more stable, that characterization doesn't stop existing just because the timeline is inconsistent.

So. Yes and no. If you were to tell the story linearly, you COULD include DoYaThing if you really fudge the dates and ignore some details.
