Manish didn't like leaving the Palace for longer than a brisk walk. Although, considering the size of the place, he could walk for an hour just to get from one end to the other. As it was, he had not left the safety of the stone walls for the exercise, but rather as a sign of security for everyone outside of it. It would be good for the King to show himself in town and chase away some of the fog of fear that hung in the air since the Unity Ball. He hoped to ease their worries by speaking with them, masking his own worries and assuring everyone that the situation was under control.
He walked among the town houses that had recently been bustling with the festivities; lights, food, music. Now it was quiet, almost lifeless. Manish had asked his guards to keep a distance to be more inviting for spontaneous conversations with the townsfolk, but now he wished they would have kept closer and spoken with him. He looked around for anyone to talk to, anyone at all. That was when he saw the small figure - a young girl carried by a chair on wheels.
"Hello," he smiled, raising a hand in greeting. His shoulder slouched in a not-so-royal way, but he wanted to seem less intimidating. "Don't be afraid. Are you looking for something? Perhaps I can help you?" He stayed where he was in the middle of the street, waiting for the girl to move first. "You have a very beautiful piece of machinery there," he said softly, indicating the wheelchair, "May I look at it?"
