I keep thinking about comes back wrong Eddie where he seems totally sweet and fine and normal but he’s actually soooo fucked up and possessive over Steve now & it seems like he’s got everyone fooled on the day to day while he’s busy killing anyone who wronged him/looks at Steve the wrong way by night but SURPRISE Steve is actually in the know and often wakes up in the middle of the night to tell Eddie to stop sitting in the corner plotting, wash the blood off his hands so it doesn’t get on the comforter, and come back to bed.
oh my goddd!!!! I honestly think about Eddie who comes back wrong SO much, like I really want to write it because I hardly ever get to see actual evil Eddie fics where he's killing people and is obsessed with Steve. He doesn't even have to be supernatural, I just love the thought of him being so warped from dying and being in the Upside Down and then being resurrected / finding his way out that something inside him is just fundamentally broken. And he's dangerously fixated on Steve but like you say, still pretends to be the same old sweet goofy Eddie... until Steve finds out what Eddie's really been doing when he's alone, that he's been pretending this entire time, that he's disturbed and dangerous. And has no idea what to do. Is scared of him even. All the while Eddie's just like, "baby, you don't have to be scared of me", stroking his hair and trying to be all soothing, because he'd die before he'd ever hurt Steve, but the issue is he'll also kill anyone else who hurts Steve, or goes near him or tries to take him away.
