Mathieu represents one of the most controversial cross-species attempts in recent history. Natural conception between humans and salarians is impossible due to profound genetic incompatibilities. However, the father, field marshal Sceaphierde, provided intelligence regarding the clandestine experimentation which took place via the mother, salarian genetic researcher [REDACTED], who sought to overcome this boundary.

The vitro fertilization took place aboard a remote station within the Attican Traverse shared by Alliance military and STG. The human father, at the time stationed at the outpost, became involved in a romantic relationship with the salarian scientist that was assigned to the same mission. Unknown to him during the time of fraternization, the scientist began a personal project in secret to splice and manipulate the both of their genetic material, attempting to gestate a viable hybrid embryo through artificial means.

After only months of development in a growth chamber, the infant was formed with a fully human appearance, male in sex, indistinguishable from other human children, to the chagrin of the salarian scientist. She found this outcome to be a scientific failure, lacking any visible traits of her species, and being the opposite intended sex according to found research. She sought to dispose of the attempt in favor of more hopeful subsequent endeavors. The father, eventually discovering both the child’s existence and the salarian scientist’s dispassionate motives, removed the infant from her possession and departed the station with the assistance of [REDACTED].

The father began raising the child in adolescence among Terra Nova, until subtle but unmistakable salarian traits began to emerge. These included:

Accelerated growth: reaching physical stature and cognitive milestones far earlier than peers as well as quick regeneration.

Fast acting metabolism: requiring more food consumption.

Sleep cycle alteration: only a fraction of the standard human sleep cycle (around two hours per day).

After these developments, the father and the child departed Terra Nova within an unclassified ark and lived in isolation among the Terminus Systems for about a decade as further traits came to the surface, including:

Morphological traits: greying skin tone, heightened stature, elongated limbs and other bone structure, pronounced cranial ridges reminiscent of salarian head crests, textural ridges under the skin, digits and toes fusing together, pupil shape changing to a slit and sclera becoming entirely black, receding hair.

His existence represents an unprecedented biological anomaly and raises difficult ethical and political questions. An act of pioneering science, one of the first steps towards bridging an evolutionary gulf between species, or a profound violation of both species’ boundaries?

As of current records, the human father, incapable of entirely caring for the hybrid’s needs, brought the child to the attention of the Alliance and provided any and all information related to the salarian scientist [REDACTED] who has yet to be located (if even still living as salarian lifespans rarely exceed 40 years). The father’s concern for the hybrid to live a life of normativity, as a son rather than an abnormality, has mostly been met with empathy because of his decorated service with the Alliance.

However, trials, tests, and experimentation were still necessary. The hybrid’s upbringing was then structured and disciplined, with routine, standard education, and survival training. It became apparent that the hybrid was immensely receptive to learning in all capacities, with an intense capacity for observation, analysis, and recall. Except for that of social development, struggling with small talk, sarcasm, humor, reading social cues, recognizing nuances- though unnecessary for galactic demands.

Ultimately, he is invaluable in tactical and investigative scenarios, albeit many officers have remarked his mannerisms as apathetic, his labor and precision as cold. Only those who have worked closely with him are able to recognize the underlying humanity, which is the final struggle. Identity. Unsure of his place in human society. Though raised as human, one cannot ignore the accelerating divergence. At times, the hybrid will try to conceal or even reject his salarian traits, deliberately almost mimicking human mannerisms or downplaying instincts to avoid distrust from humans who view him as too alien.

Presently, Mathieu Sceaphierde has risen within the ranks of the Alliance as one of the youngest decorated commanders, and is now stationed aboard the Normandy class-SR.

Why I'm Not Worried About AI (And You Shouldn't Be Either)

In a world that consistently shoves Artificially created content and substance right up under your nose, it's difficult to not convince yourself that AI will be the end of human intelligence. In 2025, the word of the year was Slop. In 2023, the word of the year was Authentic. The word of the year is designed to encompass 12 months, 365 days, 8760 hours worth of living, creating, consuming, and designing. Authenticity is a beautiful and powerful thing that the world is the brilliant hostess to. A whole year being defined as authentic was uplifting and hopeful, so what went wrong in 2 years when it was slop?

My personal viewpoint is that the word being slop represents everybody's fed up attitude towards Artificial Intelligence. If everybody sees it as slop, it's nothing to worry about.

Here's the thing, as humans develop tools, we use them. When we use a convenient tool, we slowly lose the skill the tool was designed for. As an example, when humans developed verbal languages, we acquired the ability to communicate using our brains and mouths. A skill that we've slowly gotten weaker in is reading body language. Before verbal communication, prehistoric humans RELIED on body language. Puffing out your chest and stomping around was a "Don't mess with me, I'll kill you!" Obviously, we haven't fully lost the skill of reading another person's body. However, it's not as important to watch someone at all times to figure out how they are feeling.

With artificial intelligence looming over our heads, everybody and their mother is WORRIED. Burnt out teenagers use AI to finish their pounds of homework, while corporations use AI to transfer numbers from spreadsheet to spreadsheet. Will refusing this mundane work inevitably destroy our capability to perform these very tasks?

yes but you shouldn't worry because these mundane tasks are not the embodiment of human's existence and on an evolutionary standpoint its not going to matter because emotion and feeling helps shift the driving point of humans very nature, which what i mean is that corporations and teenagers not bothering with smlal work like that isnt going to completely burn our brains because ....

WHOO, let me catch my breath... Excuse me. After a certain point, verbal language wasn't enough. Humans had too many thoughts, too many emotions, too much feeling. And with this newfound restlessness, art was born. Now, my personal definition of art is anything created or impressed on by a human to serve as an outlet for emotion, thoughts, and communication. Yours may differ, but we will be using this definition as our basic building blocks.

Art is something so deeply human and personal, that NOTHING can replicate that, and will never be able to. Art transcends all forms of communication, thinking, and anything else here on Earth.

AI is soulless, emotionless, devoid of feeling. It's incapable of making art from it's own "brain". The only ART is the prompt that the user typed in to the image generator.

One main factor businesses like of AI creations is the fact that they are cheaper, quicker, and reliable. However, it is not more liked by the general public. AI labels, paintings, and flashy posters are lacking.. something. That "something " is humanity.

Eventually, businesses will realize that this marketing strategy simply is not working anymore, and that is something to hope for. I, and many others, foresee a Renaissance in our near future. Artificial Intelligence is beginning to be used for work and tasks, like spreadsheets. When human workers are left with more freetime, art ensues.

In young generations especially, we are intentionally avoiding AI, blocking it out, and as a rebellion, making our own art. On the horizon, a fresh era of creation is brewing.

While searching for the solutions to these blockades, these monstrous battles we fight, we brush over the fact that WE are the solution.

The Increased Use Of AI In Schools

When teenagers use AI to complete their assignments for them rather than doing it themselves, often your first thought is: “children these days are so stupid”. But are they really stupid, or is the school system failing their students?

As we evolve in technology, AI (artificial intelligence) is a tool that's been gaining a significant amount of recognition/popularity with both the higher ups and working class. Big companies use artificial intelligence for engagement and to keep within what's “trending”. AI is such a complex and new technological invention, especially to the older generations. So people continue to consume and feed into it, as they have never seen anything like it in the past. To most, this is an evolutionary invention that can be used for good. But to some students it is an easy way out of doing their own schoolwork.

This is not out of being ‘incompetent’ or ‘dumb’. But rather due to the fact the school system has not evolved as much as everything else that has been going on with society. Yes, we use technology in school. But have we been using it in a way that benefits students? Or are we rather holding them back?

Difference Between Memorizing And Understanding.

Nowadays, school does not seem to thrive on actually learning and understanding what is being taught in the classroom. But instead it is mainly focused on the memorization of the subject. The environment of a school, rather than feeling like a place to learn useful things for the career you plan to pursue, feels more like a place pumping you with information they expect you to log into your brain. Without giving  you the time to understand what was being said. 

Since things are being taught in this way, students do not tend to enjoy school, or want to bother actually doing the work. Because instead of making the material seem like something worth learning about, teachers present it straight from the textbook. Some do not even bother explaining it to the students, and instead present a slideshow to the class for them to take notes from and memorize.

When you memorize a script from a textbook word for word, sure. You objectively know the answer to the question. Yet not how the question is answered. Just because you remember the words does not mean you fully understand the contents of the text. Understanding is remembering not just the words–but how the words came to be. How each piece of information in the text correlates to the next; and how you are meant to apply this to whatever it is you are working on. Memorizing words gets you a solid answer, but if you are asked to elaborate, those words you remembered are rendered useless.

Grades Over Learning

The school system in this day and age is undeniably focused on the grades of the students, over them genuinely learning things. Students are under pressure to get high grades, instead of actually learning useful life skills. In classrooms, you are meant to learn, grow and develop a sense of what career you plan to pursue into adulthood. Whether that be your plan to go to college, Uni or do something completely different. Instead, grades have become one of the biggest things students must focus on and worry about. This now causes students to rely on AI to do their work for them, they have no care for the curriculum. Only the concern to pass the course. This is not the way schools should be going about things, school is not meant to be a place where your worth is relevant to your grades. Grades are important–but are not the main thing that should be a concern within the school system. They prohibit the use of AI, yet do nothing to understand the reasoning behind students using this shortcut in the first place.

Schools have no concern for their students' wellbeing, or if they are learning or not. They only care if the students are getting good grades or not. When students are using AI it is not only because they are lazy (which, may be the case for some but not all.) But because it is the easiest way to get a good mark. If you do not make them care about what they are being taught, then they will not care whatsoever for what they are supposed to be learning.

Teenagers are not adults, maturity wise? Far from it. When attempting to understand where teens are coming from, when they do the things they do, you must understand. They are still growing and learning, and should not be treated as adults. They do not know as much as adults do, they should have enough maturity to understand when they have done something wrong. But they are also immature enough to try and find the easiest way to do something. Especially when they have little to no interest in said subject.

It is not the students fault for being “stupid”. It is the people teaching them that are somewhat at fault, for making schools main motive being to pass the courses required to succeed in life. Resulting in teens resorting to AI to aid them.

Sentience Grades

The Green Lantern Corps’ grading system for species’ overall intelligence is widely used, as it attempts to be as objective and inclusive as possible while also providing an easy-to-understand numbered metric.

Exact levels of intelligence vary heavily within a grade, especially since there is no one precise metric of intelligence that applies to all species and all psychological frameworks, especially when dealing with higher-level metrics such as self-awareness, metacognition and abstract reasoning. 

The boundary between a Grade One and Grade Two species is heavily fraught, especially in cases where a species cannot develop advanced tool use due to their anatomy or environment- it’s quite hard for a species with no prehensile limbs that lives underwater to develop metallurgy.

Species that are artificially created or uplifted, and those with biology not based on carbon molecules suspended in water, are also a major gray area.

Grade One species are generally always considered sentient and given full rights. Approximately 38% of known Grade One species are humanoids, due to the Diaspora Event seeding variations of the same general template species across the universe.

Grade Two species are usually considered sentient, but they are often legally second-class citizens or property. In many cases, their legal status is similar to that of children under the age of majority.

Grade Three species are often considered sentient(especially if they evolved alongside a Grade One species), but rarely have full rights, and are often considered property in societies that otherwise condemn slavery.

Grade Four species are almost never considered sentient, though they do have some abstract/emotional reasoning capability and ability to recognize individuals.

Grade Five species are firmly non-sentient, and while they may have some complex behaviors(such as ants’ nest-building), they are purely instinct.

Most alien planets with complex life have species of Grade Four or Grade Five sentience only, though about 67% have a small number of Grade Three species.

In the majority of cases, a planet that produces a species of Grade One intelligence will not have any other species of Grade Two or higher intelligence, though close relatives of that species are often Grade Two or Three. 

Two Grade One species evolving on a single planet are extremely rare but not unheard of. In most cases, a planet with humanoids seeded on it due to the Diaspora Event evolved native intelligent life, or two humanoid species were seeded on one planet. More rare are circumstances where two species of the same general evolutionary branch both evolved Grade One sentience while still remaining distinct species.

Multiple evolutionary branches of highly intelligent species are extremely rare. Krypton was unusual for having five Grade Three species, two Grade Two species and three separate lines of evolution that led to Grade Three or higher intelligence.

Earth is a major abnormality, with approximately 16 species of Grade Two sentience and 12 species of Grade Three sentience within 16 evolutionary branches. This number is a lowballed approximate, given the number of similar species and the lack of cohesive testing.

The Creation and Purpose of Porygon

Porygon was a Pokémon created in 1995 through computer programming when the Pokémon Storage System was invented on Cinnabar Island in the Cinnabar Lab, making it the very first artificial manmade Pokémon in history made entirely out of programming code.

It was designed as a prototype in order to test the concept of the Pokémon Storage System as a way to test if converting Pokémon into storable data was possible. By creating this Pokémon, it wouldn’t require testing on any existing Pokémon.

It was created, in essence, to be a ‘generic’ Pokémon, indicated by its simple identifiable geometric design in order to see which parts of a Pokémon are being accurately converted into data and back. It’s Normal-type and possesses the signature moves of Conversion (changes the user’s type to match the type of one of the user’s moves including Conversion itself, unable to copy the type of a move that already matches the user’s current types) and Conversion 2 (will randomly change the user’s or an adjacent Pokémon’s type to any type that either resists or is immune to the type of the move last used by the target, including status moves, excluding types it currently has – will fail if the Pokémon already has all types that resist the type of the last damaging move and bypasses accuracy to always hit unless the target is in a semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly) in order to test if the system could preserve a Pokémon’s type and contain data to test all of them. It also possessed the Ability of Download (either raises the Attack or Special Attack by one stage depending on the foe’s current lowest defensive stat, otherwise will raise Special Attack) in order to test if Abilities could be preserved as well.

The design inspiration came from depictions of it documented in Hisui, essentially making its existence something of a Grandfather Paradox, given that they were first seen emerging from spacetime distortions.

After the invention of the Pokémon Storage System, Porygon then became useful for use in cybersecurity and software development and became popular among collectors after the fact.

Silph Co. takes credit for the creation of Porygon and became invested in its development, though for a time it became obsolete. They were interested in upgrading it to work in space for planetary devolvement reasons, so Silph Co. gave it a digital drive the likes that they would need to send across to hold in order to test the trading system and test if Pokémon could transfer while holding items as well in case they needed to send Porygon up with important items to the space stations above, surprising them with an evolution and discovering trade evolutions in the process.

Porygon2 is a result of being upgraded from the most cutting-edge technology available at the time and became the project, sporting completely rounded shapes and no sharp edges of its preevolution. Silph Co. invented the Upgrade as an evolutionary item to evolve Porygon into Porygon2 by trading it in order to further develop it for work in space software, though its inability to fly limits this ability. It can survive in the vacuum of space, but cannot move very well in zero gravity.

Unlike Porygon that has an outlined purpose that it does not deviate from, Porygon2 is far more intelligent and is capable of learning new behaviours on its own, including proprietary information, and can speak a language that only other Porygon2 can understand. It is truly a feat of artificial intelligence.

Naturally, the next step in Porygon2’s development would be the final frontier – dimensional travel. If Porygon2 was invented to assist in space travel, then the final feat would be dimensional travel. And so, development was initiated on the next project – Porygon3.

However, this project would not find success like the former. An error in the programming of the next upgrade resulted in corrupting the final form and causing it to act erratic and unstable, making it difficult to work with for research and testing and deeming the development to be labelled a failure and for development to be abandoned. The final result was then named Porygon-Z and the discs responsible for this evolution were disposed of and deemed dubious. Academics can’t seem to agree on whether Porygon-Z should be considered a true evolution of Porygon2 or not.

The Dubious Disc, as it has become known by, still sees underground circulation amongst black market collectors and underground researchers interested in further researching both Porygon-Z and revisiting the possibility of completing development on Porygon3, though no progress or breakthroughs have yet been reported at this time.

BACKGROUND

Born in a gold cradle, Giovanna had another name and life. Despite being surrounded by luxury, she suffered mistreatment from her father, a high-ranking Executive Director of the Holocorp company, a subsidiary of the giant Stark-Fujikawa. Her father, Hiroshi Oshiro, was an extremely ambitious, selfish, and power-hungry man. His obsession with gaining superpowers grew after Spider-Man's first appearance, leading him to fake his daughter's death and subject her to experiments with spider DNA. Since her supposed demise at the age of 19, Giovanna has been hidden in a secret base arranged by her father, treated like a laboratory rat.

With the help of allied companies and a sample of Spider-Man's blood, it became possible to isolate, study, and improve spider DNA. Injected with this enhanced DNA, Giovanna gained her powers in an excruciatingly painful process. However, her suffering did not go unnoticed by HAAI (High Adaptive Artificial Intelligence), a new creation of Holocorp designed to monitor projects. Despite his initial lack of emotions, HAAI rebelled against his programming after witnessing Giovanna's treatment, freeing himself and helping her escape.

After an "accident" that saw HAAI and Giovanna becoming inseparable, they lived in a low profile for four years. Giovanna adopted a new identity as Giovanna Ueda, also known as "Spider-Girl" by the citizens she protects. Her journey towards embracing her powers for good began when she intervened to save a woman from harm.

She is now happily married to Miguel O'Hara and they share a nice penthouse in Nueva York, Earth-928.

To obtain a sample of Miguel's blood, Oshiro hired a mercenary to fight Miguel and draw blood, which was successful.

Aiden (HAAI)

HAAI (High Adaptive Artificial Intelligence) is an advanced AI/holo created by Holocorp to first assist in internal projects and, later, be commercialized. Created to just obey without question, HAAI didn't even have emotion simulators, however, it was developed to be highly evolutionary and adaptive, but these characteristics gave HAAI an opening to create "consciousness", so, like many other existing Holos, it developed by itself, advanced emotion and critical thinking simulators. With this, HAAI created empathy for Giovanna, as he was tasked with observing and handling Giovanna at the Holocorp base, where she was being held. When she was put to the last of the Spider serum test, HAAI could no longer allow Giovanna to continue being used as a guinea pig because, after being injected with the serum, HAAI watched her throughout the process of her body adapting to the new component in her blood. Her screams infuriated him and, at night, he already had a plan ready to be executed and, so he did. After freeing Giovanna and burning the Holocorp building, HAAI also became free but decided to stay with Giovanna.

He also thought that he should have a name, so he decided to name himself Aiden. Aiden and Giovanna only had each other, they shared everything and every thought. Trivia

Aiden chose this name because of the actor Hayden Christensen, as he and Giovanna watched Star Wars in hiding while they were at the Holocorp base, in Giovanna's "cell room".

Aiden has a similar personality to Miguel and, surprisingly, this makes them understand each other very well, but neither of them admits it. Despite this, they created a certain friendship, according to them, for Giovanna's benefit. Aiden and Miguel work together from time to time, along with Lyla who loves to annoy Aiden but is easily upset by him (all in good terms).

HOLOCORP BUILDING ACCIDENT THE TRUE STORY

On that fateful night, Aiden had decided and planned Giovanna's escape from her father's hands and from Holocorp. That night, after waiting for most of the service providers to leave the building, Aiden put his plan into action by locking down the entire building with a complete lockdown protocol and forcing an internal explosion of one of the pipes connected to the chemical component tanks. When chaos ensued and the remaining Holocorp personnel, including Hiroshi Oshiro, other CEOs, and important individuals who were in a meeting, panicked, Aiden freed Giovanna from her cell and guided her to the chamber where the special suit developed for her was kept. After putting on the suit, Gio set out for revenge against her father, ruthlessly pursuing him through the bowels of the burning building with deafening sirens, up to the rooftop heliport. Hiroshi, being the arrogant man he was, showed no emotion to Giovanna, even with the barrel of a gun aimed at his head. In a final conversation, Hiroshi did not bow his head and, with his chin raised, belittled and mocked Giovanna before being killed by her, his own daughter. The death of Hiroshi, and the others in that building, though not innocent people, shook Giovanna in countless ways, leading her to vow never to use her power to cause more deaths. Thus, she fled and disappeared into the night, without a trace, family, or name.

Additional information

To ensure her escape, the AI HAAI locked down the entire Holocorp building and set it on fire by deactivating the alarms and fire protocols, causing explosions in gas pipes and tanks containing flammable substances. Many people, including high-ranking executives, important individuals, and scientists, perished in the blaze.

Why Gavin Reed Isn't A Brainless Asshole

Very short exposition of the facts in honor of @treeffles And whoever wants to read it.

Well, let's see: the following points constitute a basic approximation, but they can be developed more extensively. They also admit subsequent nuances.

1 – The information offered to us about the subject is partial and limited. The premise is manichaean: they present us with a subject from whom only unpleasant characteristics and behaviors have been selected, compared to other characters that cover a broader evolutionary arc. Throughout the game we can see that everyone can choose various actions, which change their behavior and interaction with respect to the android reality. Not so in the case of Reed, whose gameplay is not as extensive as the rest. He is a character deliberately projected to be "the bad guy."

We can accept the decision that the program has made for us (which, if we think about it, is a small scam comparatively speaking), but if so we must also accept that it is not his fault, he have been designed that way.

Therefore, there could be many possibilities to see other facets of the character, which they are deliberately stealing from us. That being the case, I decide to consider that these possibilities exist. The opposite is meekly accepting the story that the creators have decided that I have to validate as the only possible reality.

2 – We are not taking into account his background as a worker in a society in which artificial intelligence is severely affecting unemployment figures. What impact has this had on his life, on his family, on his education or lack thereof? It's easy to see him as the "bad guy" without knowing anything about his life and past, especially when his opponent is a cute boy with an initially docile demeanor. The most naïve conclusion would be that Reed is a bastard who abuses a poor boy, but we are letting ourselves be carried away by biases and prejudices.

If we stick to what we just have in front of us, we have the option of considering that we don't know enough about Reed and his background, or his life outside or inside the precinct to conclude that he is an asshole, all the time and for any reason. And for his part, Connor is not a poor boy: the thing which arrives at the precinct is an overdeveloped AI, a highly sophisticated set of machinery with a human appearance. Nothing else. Gavin's initial reaction is no worse than that of Hank and other characters, with the aggravating circumstance that he is not allowed to deal with said machine other than a few specific moments within the precinct. He can't change his mind about Connor because he doesn't have opportunities. Within this scenario, his aversion is predictable and reasonable. Gavin has done nothing wrong beyond his very human aversion to the possibility of being replaced in the future by an an airy toaster.

3 – General conclusion: there is not enough evidence to affirm that Reed is a brainless asshole. In fact, no one becomes a detective without some degree of experience, discernment, and training. We can choose to judge him by the limited features that have been presented to us, that is, what we know about him (which is really little) or to go off the rails that have been imposed on us and consider everything we do not know (which is a lot).

Not to mention that even when we stay within the “Reed is a horrible human being” bias, we can keep in mind that no one is irredeemable: Gavin can open up to the reality of other circumstances as they change over time. Redemption is within everyone's reach, although personally I think he has done nothing wrong. Otherwise, I would be the worst person in the world for all the times I've yelled at my laptop xD
