Why do I sketch in blue?
@frigginconfused recently asked me why I do my sketches in blue and here’s why:
SO like all over digital artists on earth I’ve also had the problem of drawing on the wrong layer. I’ve always taken to sketching in blue to distinguish from the lineart but It only goes so far.
Sketching in blue helps me personally see the sketch but doesn’t actually help when I line.
But I’ve found that if I set my sketch layer to Difference it changes it to PINK on a gray background. Which is very easy for me to see when I’m doing lines.
But it goes an extra step see, my black lineart, should I be drawing on the wrong layer, is only visible on the blue version.
But the moment I set the layer to difference the black just disappears, so If I’m attempting to line and my lines don’t show its an indicator of being on the wrong layer from the start!!
Here’s that same scribble changed to the dark gray, which would still be visible while set on Difference. Technically any color combination works for this method but I use blue to get an aesthetic pink!!
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk!!
