When a brand is removed off a novakid, does it keep the memory? If it's shoved into another novakid, does the brand become alive again?

Putting this answer below a Keep Reading for the sake of readers (like myself) who don’t like running across death, body horror, etc. without warning. I’m not sure what warnings apply, just general warning that it isn’t pretty.

…okay I admit that I find the concept overall several levels of horrifying because that brand is the entirety of what makes them them. Brain, soul, senses, you name it. But from a purely scientific standpoint… Yes, I would say the memory lingers. But to all intents and purposes, a Novakid who has their brand removed is dead. Actually, the brand technically is the Novakid, as their body is just a walking battery for it. Sticking it on another Novakid will have dreadful effects on the mind of the poor victim. Like having a ghost (who died pretty dang horribly) forced into your brain. The two brands might reject each other, the living brand might die in response, you could end up with a tortured Franken-Nova, the dead brand might just siphon all the energy out of the living Novakid’s body… the results would not be pretty.

Beryll, do you have any nicknames? What about kuiper. I'm giving you guys some now. Beryll is now Barry, and kuiper is now lip, if you guys accept these nicknames.

Beryll: “Reflective. Honestly, I’ve gone by so many nicknames. Glitch from my kingdom called me Your Grace, Corrupted, Virus.. Mostly insults after they turned against me and the rest of the Royals. Call me whatever you want.”

Kuiper: “Not many folks get my normal name right anyway, so they call me Kip or just shout ‘hey you! Novakid!’. Feel free to add on to the nicknames.”

Hey Beryll, it can be hard to feel like you need to be a completely different person depending on your situation. And no, you can't make an exception for Kuiper. Not for Kuiper's sake anyway. You need to decide for yourself who you want to be. So, I guess that's the question isn't it? Who DO you want to be? What matters most to you?

Hey, so what Dr is the crew smell Like? What about the ship in general?

The ship in general smells a little like new carpet, despite there only being three areas with carpet. Nyota insists on it being kept very clean. Eight people in relatively close quarters would be a problem otherwise. There’s often a lingering hint of whatever the captain was cooking last, too.

As for people, Nyota smells of heavy fur (of course), lavender, and usually metal or something slightly cold and acidic. She almost always has some floral smell to her from working in her garden; takes a lot to feed eight. Sometimes she smells dusty too, not house dust but loose, dry earth.Lumen is hot sand and rarely leather, usually tinted by whatever medicines he’s been using or making lately. There’s this constant faint whiff of whiskey too. He doesn’t seem to “keep” smells easily though so it’s hard to tell what he’s been up to just by that.Namina smells like lemongrass! He tends to make the other crew members feel a bit more energetic. If he’s been off the ship lately, he usually has a bit of gunpowder or iron scent too.Hadley is tricky, but tends to always have a lingering scent of coffee, usually mixed with animal fur and earth. She’s more used to dust-baths so she doesn’t usually smell like soap, but the rare occasion she takes a water-bath leaves her slightly tallow-scented too.Sonny has a bright grassy smell from exploring all the time. There’s a definite electric smell too, that sharpness right before a thunderstorm. Get close enough and you’ll catch hints of copper.Oldarva always smells like clean fabric and laundry soap, strong enough to almost bury the smell of fur. Since she started helping in medical more, she also tends to smell like Lumen’s medicine-crafting kit.Arjun always smells of rock and earth, and rarely of metal. Coffee also seems to follow him like a cloud, and usually engine grease. He’s easy to track. Arrowmail always has that old-machine smell, a little dusty, a little oily, and mostly iron and coppery. Paper, ink, and that lovely old-book smell too. …he just generally smells like old things, but not old organic things.

On a scale of one(awake and bouncing around everywhere) to 10(always asleep) where is each of the crew on the tiredness scale?

Nyota is something between a 7 and an 8 usually, depending on how busy she is. She can’t sleep unless she’s gotten everything she can done. …she doesn’t usually sleep well anyway.Lumen is usually a 4. He gets enough rest to be awake and focused, but he’s certainly not energetic most of the time.Namina is easily a 2. Not as hyper as Sonny, but awake plant is awake and wondering why no one else is. Except right now. Right now, he’s hibernating.Hadley is probably 2 or 3? She spends a lot of that energy in scuffles, literal and verbal, with the captain and crew, but somehow always has some to spare.Sonny is, by unanimous vote, a 1. Bouncy sparkly star girl. She reins it in enough that it doesn’t drive everyone mad at least and is usually great company.Oldarva is something like a 6? She’s always a little bit sleepy from staying up late reading, translating, or sewing.Arjun is about a 5, though he’ll claim he’s more tired than he usually is, citing his age. But get him talking about rocks or history and he’s as animated as Sonny.Arrowmail keeps himself well-charged so he’s probably a 3. He has to be at least somewhat energetic to keep up with Sonny, especially if something caught her interest.
