“ deary, why don’t you light a lantern? i don’t know who in your life you lost.. but if you hadn’t had anyone like that i don’t think you’d be drawn here. it’s not shameful at all, now is it? “
♕ - ; the words of an elderly woman spoke leagues to percival as he found himself drawn to a particular night of this ongoing festival. that being a celebration of death, or rather, those who have passed on in one’s life. a note of reconciliation or something of the sort was meant to be set adrift along with a small paper boat out onto open waters where they would sail to who knows where. to percival, the idea seemed strange in that the boat would no doubt wash up along some shore and the sentiments lost.
♕ - ; but he found himself clutching a small piece of paper. perhaps it had written it in a daze when he thought of a life to him that was lost that he could send this out to. there was but one he could think of immediately, but the immediate thought of her name and her face sent him in an immediate daze--almost like if a shock were sent directly into his mind and he found himself stumbling for a brief moment, nearly losing his footing.
♕ - ; holding the lantern boat in his hands, along with a small note scribbled out to whom he wished to see it through to, he would gingerly place the boat on the waters along with others of various ages. children, young men and women, the elderly.. they all sent out these small frail boats out to voyage with nothing but their words written out for the departed. and percival found himself squatting with them, looking out to the singular boat he had sent out with but a few small words left to give to someone that important to him. and while he did not pray, nor did he clasp his hands together, his eyes fixated on it, his silence remembering in brief the forlorn times of his youth he could remember before it was struck down in an instant. he clutched his eyes tightly for a moment to try and brace himself but to no avail.
“ tch..!! “ he found himself nearly stumbling towards the side, imminent in colliding with someone but he managed to grab the grass beneath him and just barely prevent himself from impacting the other, the night sky and his own gaze away from them preventing him from seeing just who he nearly collided with.
“ that was my fault. i lost myself for a moment. “
