I have been thinking a lot recently about my background beliefs about success. And my main thoughts have boiled down to there is a difference between hard work and suffering. You Do Not Have To Suffer To Be Successful. Even,and perhaps even especially, if what you want to be successful at is art. I know “suffering” is highly subjective. In my case, at this time, it is feeling stuck and stressed and feeling a lot of internal pressure about how I perceive I should be coping with external pressures. It is being in a place where I do not want to move up the hierarchy in my workplace and hating change enough that I have not actively tried to alter my circumstances. And until I confront my belief that success and even simply adulthood implies a level of suffering- nothing is going to change because there is a part of me that is deeply satisfied that it is getting exactly what it believes is required. In other thoughts, I should totally revisit this art style.
