Expecto Patronum ⚡
@expectoxpatr-ohno from x
Yellow is a favorite color of his. It’s bright and happy, and it reminds him of springtime. He’s wearing a yellow shirt with his dress robes, and not for the first or last time does he feel terribly restricted by the clothes that are assigned to boys at Hogwarts.
He bowed back, in response to her curtsy, a small smile teasing at his lips. “Do you have a date tonight? Following that question, would they be very angry with me if I asked you to dance?”

Sometimes, on a good day, when there were no terrible news hanging in the air, no empty seats at the table marking the death of a friend, the Order of the Phoenix headquarters almost reminded him of home.
Not 12 Grimmauld Place, never - he’d only called that place home before he’d learned what home truly was. No, it reminded him of Hogwarts, of late nights spent hanging out in the Gryffindor common room, of sitting in his dorm with the Map open on the floor, planning the next escapade with his friends. It was hard not to think about that when he was surrounded by old school colleagues, people he’d watched learn how to make feathers fly and how to turn teapots into turtles.
The reality could hardly be any further from that, though. That seemed to get only more and more clear with every passing day.
It felt like the Order was quickly taking over the life he’d built for himself after leaving Hogwarts, but he could hardly complain about that - he was just glad that he’d been persuaded to put any big plans on hold. There was no way that he’d have been able to juggle anything else.
It was late, and he’d only just rolled out of bed to make his way to the Order Headquarters (“really,” he’d grumbled under his breath, “I might as well just move in while I’m at it”). The Patronus that’d woken him up had explained what this was about, but he’d been far too sleepy to listen to any of it - he’d barely remembered to change out of his pajamas as he left the house.
It seemed like the others either hadn’t gotten their messages yet or had gotten held up, though, for when Sirius arrived, he found the Headquarters rather deserted. Yawning, he pulled up a chair to wait, only just catching a glimpse of somebody else as he did so.
“McKinnon?”
@expectoxpatr-ohno LIKED THIS FOR A REMUS STARTER !!
The cold air bit into his skin, but Remus just pushed up his collar, readjusted his cloak and kept walking.
He wasn’t sure where he was going.
It probably wasn’t a good idea to be roaming aimlessly at that hour, not those days, anyway, but he’d needed air, he’d needed space. Things had changed so much since Hogwarts, and it wasn’t that he’d been unprepared for the change - he’d always known that life was hard for a werewolf in the wizarding world. He’d known that the moment that he stepped foot out those doors, the moment that Dumbledore could no longer help him, things would be far harder than they’d been over his seven Hogwarts years. But even through that transition, he’d had his friends. James, Sirius, Peter - if his world were to collapse around him, as long as they were there to hold it up, he felt like he would be fine.
But now he wasn’t sure that they were there anymore.
Things had been strange as of late. Maybe it was all just taking a toll on everyone, but he felt like his friends had grown distant. He’d told himself that they all just had more important, heavy matters weighing on them, but that night... It’d felt like more than that.
And suddenly, it seemed like no one was there to help hold his world together anymore.
He wasn’t sure for how long he’d been walking when he finally came to a halt, spotting some movement in the edge of his vision. His hand quickly found his wand and he pulled it out, eyes carefully scanning his surroundings for any signs of company.
“Anyone there?” He asked after a moment, deciding that if there was someone there, they had to have spotted him already.

Coming back from his field research had brought a great deal of change. He’d started outlining his research, converting it to text. He’d started spending more time with the Order, offering what he could when he could. And he’d started sleeping with Marlene McKinnon, falling with her as easily as anything. From good friends to lovers, it felt good to be with her. It had only been a few weeks, but he’d carved a spot for himself in her life, and she had done the same.
Xeno had been writing when she arrived, making tea. He looked up when she took his hands, a small smile stretching his lips. And then she changed their lives forever. He blinked in surprise, his fingers twitching under hers. “You’re pregnant?” His breath came out in an incredulous laugh as he reached up to cup her cheek. “You’re pregnant.”
"Lemme take a look--" (for sirius)
Sirius crinkled their nose, then sighed, giving in after only a moment. “Fine. But it really isn’t a big deal.”
"Please don' lie ta me." (for alphie)
“I know that you want me to be lying, and you want the ‘true’ story to be better, but I’m being completely honest with you, Marlene. I don’t lie, not to you.”
"Ye shoul've told me sooner." (harry)
“I don’t know. I guess it just took me a little while to figure it out myself.”
