Honestly that one I thought was fine but whatever until the placard called attention to: the knight is a woman disguised as a man, the rich woman stripping is trying to seduce the knight, and — best part — that horse can’t be bothered. Seeing his process was probably one of the highlights of this exhibit that I don’t feel @museelouvre has ever been able to capture in the same way. #EugeneDelacroix #ExpoDelacroix all mostly from early in his career, it was fascinating to see the breadth of what Delacroix painted beyond historical and allegorical works. There were also so many small paintings, often bought by wealthy gentleman for their “private collection,” which despite the sexual undertone are equally given attention to detail and color and light and composition.
