Old Demons;
Things had been good between her and Kaiden, a little too perfect, a little too comfortable. It was a strange feeling, having things go so well for two people who were so used to things not going their way. After all, they were the ones who liked to ruin their own relationship, it was a surprise Arabella nor Kaiden have tried this time. But she loved him, and there was no way she’d let that go. Nine months ago she wouldn’t have imagined leaving Haven Hollow and their little hideaway in his house, but now things were changing for the better. Arabella and her growing fame, loving the attention she was receiving from everyone but most especially Kaiden, didn’t realize that things could come to a crashing halt. Her naivety was still there, despite all the growing up she did. She couldn’t play successful housewife for too long. Coming home usually meant that she’d be able to relax with Kaiden once he got home, but she checked the mail instead and felt her blood run cold.
There was a letter addressed to her, yet the card inside wrote hey pumpkin. Only one person had ever called her that, only one person knew what those words could do to her. Her eyes widened and her hands shook as she sifted through the envelope, pulling out a picture with Kaiden in it. She didn’t see the other random girl, all she saw was the red X over his face that made her knees tremble. Your new plaything sure is fun to look at, she wrote on the back. “That bitch,” Arabella murmured to herself, fingers clenching over the picture. Of course, the minute she had been happy and grateful for her new life, Kaiden would be the one to get hurt. Him alone, and not photographed with Arabella spoke mountains about Jade’s behavior. She knew how to manipulate Arabella still. She knew that threatening Kaiden would break her, which got her angry at herself. If she hadn’t pursued this dream of acting, there would’ve been no way that Jade could’ve found her. Hearing the door click, Arabella quickly shoved the letter in her coat lapel and turned to face Kaiden, a tense smile on her lips as she gazed at him. “You got fanmail, darling.” He didn’t need to know what was going on.
