As a two-time cancer survivor, I would not be where I am today without the help of others. Beating cancer twice was the battle of my life, but it taught me two important things—to never give up and to give back to others in need.
I founded A Mind and Body Total Fitness after putting myself through college by personal training and realized I had a passion for bringing health and wellness into the lives of others. Today, AMBTF has become much more than a company that offers personal training. I use it as a platform to inspire people in Chicago to get involved in local charities.
This summer, I created and led a weekly workout series called #EXPOSURE2013 at Ohio Street Beach as a way to expose people to different charities in Chicago while learning safe and effective exercises that can be done at the beach. Donations from each workout went towards a different organization each week. I also volunteer as a mentor for Imerman Angels, which provides one-on-one cancer support.
I'm thrilled to start working with the Chicago Children's Choir next month. I will be offering a free monthly bootcamp for the Choir's staff and members. The CCC serves 3,500 children annually and 72% of those kids come from low income families. I hope that I can not only teach them the importance of health, but also the importance of staying postitive and never giving up on your dreams.
There are even more exciting things to come for AMBTF in 2014. I plan on launching a new website, which I can't give too many details on yet, and I'm already starting to plan #EXPOSURE2014. Stay tuned!
Be Well,
Alex
