- How do they fall asleep? Wake up? Any daily rituals?

waking up with zanark means untangling yourself from the human octopus he morphed into overnight. its usually unsuccessful. falling asleep with him means resigning yourself to being with an incorrigible blanket hog. Nishiki has been waging a war in an attempt to get zanark’s mane under control….with varying success.

Do they keep secrets? Lie? Cheat?

the story of how zanark ended up in jail changes every time nishiki asks, and zanark won’t spill who his parents were or what time exactly hes from…zanark doesnt cheat, but hes got a lot of secrets.

What do they fight about? What are their arguments like? How do they make up?

fights are usually started from afore mentioned secrets or zanark acting like a brat. Sometimes its even started by nishiki’s thick headedness. And arguments are…explosive. its zanark, come on. making up means zanark usually swallowing his pride and coming to awkwardly apologize.

How do their friends feel about their relationship? Their families?

raimon is stuck in a perpetual state of ‘wait what’, while tenma is happy enough for them, and midori gave zanark the ‘break his heart and i cut your balls off’ speech. zanark domain treats nishiki like how a gang might treat the boss’ girl, which is…a little weird.

Do they bring out the best in each other, or the worst? Do they have a fatal flaw?

zanark’s fatal flaw is pride, and nishiki’s is his tendency to go with the flow rather than take initiative. but being with nishiki also brings out zanark’s ability to function and care about others like a normal person, and zanark brings out nishiki’s drive and competition that he sometimes lacks.
