@immobiliter sent: " i don't know how i ever thought this was gonna work. " ( bobbie for nihlus! )
Nihlus stands next to her as they watch the ship crash in the distance, the explosion so violent it seems as though the heat of it should be felt all the way over here. This is certainly a setback, but they took a calculated risk. If the mercs had succeeded in taking off and leaving this system unnoticed, they would have led him straight to his target and saved him a potentially long and arduous hunt. Alas, he'll have to find another way to pick up this cold trail
"Unrelenting hope in desperate situations seems to be a common trait among your species, Sergeant." He throws a glance at the human beside him, assessing the expression on her face. It's unlikely that she's broken up about a handful of dead smugglers, particularly since neither of them actually had a hand in their premature demise. All they did was facilitate their journey up until this point; if anything, they bought them time. Sergeant Draper placed a tracker on their ship, but the explosives were someone else's doing. "It was worth the shot," Nihlus decides, partly to placate her, partly to settle the matter for his own mind, which is already forming a new plan.
"I suppose this concludes our collaboration," he continues, looking down to type a series of abbreviations and numbers into his omni-tool. It is a pity, really. While he prefers to go missions on his own, these past few days of working with Sergeant Draper were quite productive and disgraced or not, he appreciates her methods and approaches. So.. what if he prolongs their work together a little bit? "Unless you'd like to come along and see this through with me."
