In no way was I thinking about writing about eye glasses in my first blog, but I made a wonderful discovery and felt the need to share it with the world!
Sometime in the recent past, the temple fell off of my glasses! I found a magnifying glass and realized my assumption that the screw had fallen out of the hinge was wrong. In fact, the hinge was secured by the little screw, but the pin at the end of the hinge had come loose from the temple. So, clumsily, I got a hold of some super glue from a kitchen drawer and put a drop at the end of the pin and inserted into the temple. It took a few tries for it to hold, but when it did, it held like a champ! It was, however, not straight, and left me with a pair of glasses that would fall off of my face any time I leaned forward.
So. I dug through my drawers, and found miscellaneous pairs of readers. I used these in place of my progressives and flipped them up on my head and down on my nose and eventually broke most of them. In any event, at one point in time, I had a nice pair of readers with some kind of lens that made the computer glare easy on the eyes. Thus, I took myself off to the store prepared to pay a premium for such a pair of readers.
Thus, I make my way to the readers and assume I will find the same or like glasses, and I see not one pair like them! But low and behold, I see a new choice! It is a pair of "Multi Focus Advance Reading Glasses" by Foster Grant. The package claims they are good for reading, computer and across the desk. I tried them on, I liked them. It was the first time I could put on readers and see what I looked like in the little mirror on the display.
In reality, they are better than reading, computer, and across the desk for me. They are not good for driving, but they do not claim to be, but I find them quite useful for anything around the house including the television, which has been a bit of a challenge for me since my progressives broke. I can now read Netflix titles and descriptions and other small print on the television.
I would recommend these to anyone that wears progressives as a spare pair of glasses. The weight is good, the lenses are nice and for everything but driving distance, they actually work better than the last two pair of progressives that I owned.
