What is Eyebrow Transplant?
An eyebrow transplant is a cosmetic procedure designed to restore, enhance, or reshape the eyebrows by transplanting natural hair follicles to areas with thinning, sparse, or missing brows. It is an ideal solution for individuals who have lost eyebrow hair due to over-plucking, genetics, hormonal changes, aging, trauma, scarring, or medical conditions. Unlike temporary solutions such as makeup or microblading, an eyebrow transplant provides a permanent and natural-looking result, as the transplanted hairs continue to grow like normal eyebrow hair.
The procedure is usually performed using the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique. Healthy hair follicles are carefully harvested one by one from a donor area, typically behind the ear or from the nape of the neck, where the hair texture most closely matches eyebrow hair. These follicles are then meticulously implanted into the eyebrow area at precise angles and directions to replicate the natural growth pattern of eyebrows. This detailed approach is essential for achieving symmetrical, realistic, and aesthetically pleasing results. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, making it comfortable and minimally invasive, and typically takes two to four hours depending on the desired density and shape.
Recovery after an eyebrow transplant is relatively quick. Mild redness, swelling, or small scabs may appear in the treated area and usually resolve within a few days. The transplanted hairs may shed within the first few weeks, which is a normal part of the hair growth cycle. New eyebrow hairs begin to grow after a few months, with visible improvements becoming noticeable around three to four months and final results appearing within nine to twelve months. Since the transplanted hair comes from the scalp, regular trimming may be required to maintain the desired eyebrow length.
Eyebrow transplants are suitable for both men and women seeking fuller, well-defined brows.
