shut up shut up SHUT UP
something else got changed in the world download since the last time i logged on.
it must be new, because mangrove trees cant be obtained normally on this world.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THAT NAME.
i dont wanna be reminded of my failures as organizer of this smp.
im already stressed out as fuck bout going back to school. please, whoever is doing this... just stop
the failed wither skeleton skull farm
since i was in the area of verdant on the world download recently for the other post, i decided to take nyall on a tour of the failed wither skeleton skull farm nearby. it never made it into any video so i figured this would be a great place to showcase it! maybe ill even make another post about the farm that actually works later.
it all started when howlfang and i watched impulse and grian and a few other hermits from the popular smp hermitcraft cheese the wither with drip-stone. inspired by the video, we decided we needed to recreate it, with our own twist, on eyr smp.
however, in order to spawn the wither, you needed wither skeleton skulls, and if anyone here plays a lotta minecraft (which im guessing is most of nyall reading this), youd know that those burnt skeletons dont like dropping their heads. in fact, their drop-rate with a looting iii sword is still 5.5%.
knowing that our goal was hindered only by the incredibly low drop-rates, i was willing to shelve the idea. after all, incredibly popular mcyters did it, and the experience of cheesing a wither isnt too different per perspective.
then one day, i saw a video by skipthetutorial (forgive me but i cant for the life of me find which one it is) that noted that you can blow up strays with a charged creeper and get wither skeleton skulls on bedrock edition of minecraft. i didn't realize it was a bedrock only glitch, so when i updated the server to 1.17 and realized that there was an easy way to convert skeletons to strays using powder snow, i jumped at the chance to finally accomplish our goal to cheese the wither with drip-stone.
there was a broken mob spawner inside the mountains surrounding the place where the verdant children woke up. im not sure how it broke but it mustve been something to do with the world-edit plugin we used to build stretches of the mountain range easily. nevertheless, right-clicking on a broken mob spawner with a spawn egg of any kind will allow said spawner to summon mobs of the same type as the egg used upon it. at this point in the lifetime of the smp, i was already made owner since the previous one had to step down for the sake of their own mental health. because i had those permissions, i figured itd be fine for me to turn the broken mob spawner into something actually useful, and enlisted howl to help make a stray farm.
we then made a charged creeper farm that relied on thunderstorms and a trident enchanted with channeling. for those who are unaware, a channeling trident has the ability to summon lightning strikes when thrown at an entity during a thunderstorm. (any entity works! even item frames.) moreover, when a creeper is struck with lightning, it turns into a charged creeper. this is made even easier with the introduction of lightning rods, introduced in the 1.17 update, which was also known as the first half of the caves and cliffs update. these copper rods attract lightning strikes and safely discharge the excess energy. in the context that we used them however, they made an easy target for our channeling trident. lightning strikes have an area of effect, so they could still convert a regular creeper into a charged creeper from a couple blocks away.
all was going well, we were ready for our final test. we brought a charged creeper into the blast chamber where a stray was waiting in water so the explosion will not destroy blocks. i ran into the Danger Zone™ with a flint and steel, and lit the creeper, which immediately starts its detonation sequence. boom! the creeper blew up both itself and the stray. we waited for the dust to settle, only to see no wither skeleton skull. to my frustration, i realized that it was a bedrock only bug far too late.
and there you have it! your tour of the eyr smp world download for today
so i recently installed sodium coupled with a buncha other fabric mods (namely continuity, indium, lamb dynamic lights, and iris) so i can recreate what i had with optifine, and man, is my fps glorious. i first tested it out with my sky-block world, because the performance mods and shaders i got were meant for use with that series.
my game ran smoother then ive ever seen before. though there was the occasional bit of choppiness when i turned the camera around or looked at too many entities at once, minecraft ran at an upwards of 106 frames per second for the first time in my life.
since there aren't as many things on screen for my laptop to load there in said sky-block world, i decided to log onto the eyr smp world download to make sure that my frames were also good in verdant (aka spawn village). verdant, in its heyday was notorious among both bts team members and verdant children for tanking fps, so if fabric with the performance mods could handle it in stride, itd prove that this set of mods was superior to optifine in terms of optimization.
though i was wary of joining the world download after what happened with the maps a few weeks ago, im a stubborn mule, and i wanted to prove a point about fabric being the future of minecraft modding. no amount of ghost blocks or moving item frames or whatever it was would frighten me enough to prevent me from getting what i want. besides, the map in question is located in the end dimension. verdant is in the over-world. i should be fine as long as i stay out of the end.
so i did just that. i teleported myself to spawn, and took some curious looks around, moving the cursor around and checking if it stuttered. it only started stuttering as i got close to the animal pens around verdant, and holy shit was my fps glorious. i cannot begin to tell you how much of a game-changer this is.
i immediately reported my findings to @judahdenose. see the following screenshot for our conversation.
updating the world
so with the recent release of the wild update (aka 1.19), i decided to update the world, which was played mostly on 1.16.5 and later 1.17. after the series ended, i already moved the world to 1.18 and its patches. that didnt really cause any major problems, unlike this time, where the end dimension looked like it got pruned without my knowing.
originally there was a glass cloche enclosing a bee tree that the bts members made during what shouldve been rehearsal for the finale.
and now its gone.
thats not the only thing that went missing. the map art i made in the end dimension to tease the finale of eyr disappeared as well. so i ended up remaking it. however, there mustve been something that mojang changed in regards to the way maps work though because i keep seeing a player location indicator on this map??
the map i used is locked and all, but it still shows that it recognizes someone there? i have no idea how to fix this, but for now its gonna stay that way.
man, i just wanna say: something bout this hits so hard
the ballroom
apologies for the delay between this post and my last! i recently finished my spring semester of college so i was swamped with work.
enn knee ways, now that i have a lot more free time, i can get back to this blog.
the ball was my and joey's idea. back when genny and c!joey were followers of rachald, we thought it was a good idea to incite chaos among the verdant children by setting off a wither during the ball when they least expected it. we gathered soul sand, and spent hours farming for wither skeleton skulls that refused to drop. eventually we gave up, and decided to use the skulls from the rachald shrine just outside of current day verdant. of course that didn't work out because we were snitched on by geeb.
but before that, we enlisted the help of the resident note-block master, geeb, to make us a red-stone circuit that would play the flea waltz. now if any danganronpa fans are reading then you know why we decided to use that song.
during this time, i did not have diamonds yet, so i dug this area out for geeb using stone tools.
there were also many hidden scares in the ballroom as well. not all of them were utilized to their full potential though.
for this one, there was a hidden passageway that led up here. i would've downed a invisibility potion, and sneaked there. upon reaching the window, i would drink some milk to remove the potion effect.
another hidden scare was located in the fireplace. hidden by the flames are two dispensers containing splash water bottles that can be activated from the outside. most of the lights in the ballroom can be turned off, just like the fireplace.
ultimately, this ballroom was under utilized because of the nature of the smp. there were a lotta cool things that didnt go as planned because it was a role-play based series. we cant control what anyone else thinks or does. im not saying thats a bad thing. in fact, it gives a sense of spontaneity to the series!
and there you have it, heres your inside scoop into the behind the scenes of eyr smp of the day.
shrines to meyah
As it was revealed to the verdant children that the goddess of the over-world, peace, and harmony was killed, they began finding shrines to her all over the world. All the major gods -- with the exception of rachald of course -- had a shrine to her somewhere. with lemori, she had a mooshroom shrine near the location of her wife's temple in the ground (which i will talk about some other day).
it originally had mooshrooms wandering around it, but since they were allowed to freely roam, they ended up getting pretty far away from the structure. this is actually where i got the mooshroom at my base from! very good early game food source if you milk one with a bowl.
there's another shrine to meyah in tyrev's temple in the ground, although its very cleverly hidden, and no verdant child would ever be able to get into it without her permission.
for context, meyah's favorite flower was a peony.
and finally, in the end dimension that tyrev guarded over, hanging over the edge of the world is meyah's heart.
i don't think anyone in the build and bts teams figured out concretely if that was meyah's actual heart or just a shrine that was shaped like one. the jukebox held the pigstep music disc, but on the eyr smp, we replaced that disc with a song by a friend of mine. also, underneath the jukebox was a book that just says this.
and there's your behind the scenes of eyr scoop for today!
