and hmnn I need more time to think out that sorta deus ex machina at the end. it could have been laid out better, and I assumed it had something to do with them joining together until Meryl Streep and co were like YO DAD AIN'T HUMAN. and I was like OH SO THE WHITE GUY IS ACTUALLY SPECIAL. AND THIS IS WHY IT WORKED. MY BAD. (yes I am looking forward to the sequel and finding out about Pete's dad) (your point) like imagine if the problem with the mortals the power consumed is that they wanted/obtained the power for themselves, no matter their reasons, and didn't think to join hands with others? and if they had they would've lived? and this could have been explained by Pete being as confused as the audience and going to see eyebrow dude, cause he seemed to have some idea of what the orb was and what it could do. and eyebrow dude being as confuzzled, but theorizing and the like.
