Arthur awakens in a strange place. His head is pounding and he feels ill; upon moving, he also realizes he is bruised; has he been fighting? Nothing seems to be broken, though he ache; sleeping on a stone floor would contribute. But... why would he have been there? Wherever there was...
There are stairs; he climbs them and finds himself face-to-posterior with a rather large, familiar statue. “Sano? But... why am I here?”
What follows is a long (for the Watchguard) and extremely unpleasant description of the events that had led to his incarceration in Leon Karnak’s topmost room. He had indeed fought -- Uno, who had brought him there, and then Sarcophagus, when he tried to escape. And with what he’d said, and done, to Leon and Uno beforehand... He did not think he could live with himself. Only Sano’s rather forceful arguments convinced him to stay his hand, to see if he could not make amends... but Arthur did not feel worthy.
