Following this post from @z0mb1ecats I would like to introduce episode 6.5 of season one, the first appearance of Jules Kyi Saw and my guilty pleasure project ;
Wings of Wax or, in french Les Ailes de Cire
The construction of the aforementioned episode follows typical Greek tragedies ; amartia, hubris and catharsis, hence the reference to Icarus.
It takes place a little before the Blues’ get the idea of a worldwide championship, right when Ben’s antagonistic nature start to solidify. In this episode, the main characters are training, teams are mixed as they all get comfortable knowing each other, Laklass and Fred are taking advice from Gabriel in piercing defense. And Tag’s chatting strategy with Requin and Eloise. They’re being watched by an envious new contender. Ben is the first to offer them a spot in his team, Tony being grounded because of last time’s stunt.
Soon after, Ben challenges the Blues to a friendly game under the pretense of wanting to clean his slate. He aims to test the new recruit’s skillset and see if he can get a rise from scaring Tag’s team. Jules is overjoyed with being able to crush other kids in a ‘real match’. The phantoms are agressive and relentless. Ben rewards risk taking and violence, Jules is eager to please. Tag manages to dodge one of Jules’ tackles but ends up landing on one foot directly on his assailant’s shin, snapping it clean. The single pained cry torn from Jules’ throat alerts the cops. Requin, concerned with the safety of the players quickly orders everyone to leave. The phantom’s newbie, writhing on the ground manages to catch Gabriel’s pant leg as he leaves. In his kind worry, Gabriel is good enough to carry the injured player to Pradet’s car with the lie explanation of a game of tag gone wrong.
Thus was born a creepy little crush and a whole lot of resentment !
Did you know the dark green of Jules’ pant leg was stitched back together after the operation to fix their shin ? That’s why the color differs from the rest of her pants.
