Clovers Art Wall: FAB FAB
FAB FAB, or fabulous fabrics, is a Columbia based artist new to the Clovers art wall. Typically, Sasha Goodnow wheels and deals in meditation cushions, wallets, and tote bags. Her newest pieces however, offer mysticism to any special nook in your home.
“As a fan of tarot, and more recently, oracle cards, I enjoy doing readings with first pulling a ‘querent’ card. The querent card means ‘one who seeks’ and represents yourself in the question you’ve asked the deck. I made these wall hangings for reflection on the card as the querent.”
“I choose only from the ‘Major Arcana’ for my wall hangings. The Major Arcana is a twenty-two card deck and each card symbolizes a generalized situation in a life cycle. Following the cards stories from zero to twenty-two is fascinating and I highly recommend checking it out!”
“I've had some of the collage pieces in my possession for years. Some rocks are from a small mining town in Minnesota, others from the shores of the Isle of Man. Bicycle parts, lots of deer teeth, tassels, bells, gems, and quills, I really enjoy collage from found pieces.”
Sasha has referenced spiritualist Doreen Virtue’s interpretation of the cards on her etsy. You can also learn more about FAB FAB and her upcylced fabric movement here!

FABFAB Baby Bibs, a “How-to”
After being invited to about three baby showers in a row, I asked for some gift giving advice from a friend who is a mother of two. “Give them some bibs! Don’t go the blankie route, they’ll be getting so many blankets and clothes to last them a lifetime, but bibs- you can never have too many bibs.” I searched for some durable fabric, and after a few test tries, presto! Cute, tiny things for cute, tiny humans :)

Wanting something durable and useful, I immediately gravitated toward my denim scraps. I figured the weightiness of denim could possibly repel liquids or at least absorb liquids slower than other fabrics. Denim also embodies a sturdy, utilitarian purpose - it is meant to get dirty. Even though handmade gifts are very special, I wanted to make something that could eventually end up as a rag somewhere with a billon stains on it!
So to begin, I took a “leg” of denim and cut it open. I measured 13 inches height by 8 in wide. I then trimmed an oval shape from it.
Next I cut the neck hole 3 inches in diameter.
Next I decided to add a little flair to the bib- a heart! I drew a heart on a piece of paper, placed it on the bib, drew a line around it, and cut it out.
Next I found material for the heart and the back of the bib. I used the bib to trace its shape onto cotton material and stitched around the cotton materials edges. For the heart, I cut a square of fabric out, just a little bit bigger than the heart, and also stitched around its edges. I then pinned the square to the heart and slowly stitched around the heart.
I left about 1/4in around the heart to fray. I then stitched the cotton material to the back of the denim, leaving some room around the bib (about 1/2in) for the edges of the bib to fray as well.
I then sewed a denim rectangle to the bib for the velcro. I sewed the soft side of the velcro to one half of the rectangle and sewed the remaining part of the rectangle to an “arm” of the neck hole. I then sewed the rough side of the velcro to the other “arm” of the neck hole.
Lastly, I threw these in the wash to begin their fraying... And voila! A bib is born!

A FAB FAB Design: LAPTOP CASE
I made this the other day for a xmas present. Its not perfect, OF COURSE, nothing ever is when you are working with the most perfect tool ever created (the sewing machine), but I think that it suffices for maybe one or two joyful sounds from the receiver. I hope. Anyways, here’s what I did.
Right now, I have a lot of rainbowey fabric samples, so I picked some pieces of the spectrum out that I liked.
I cut them in half.
Sewed the groups together.
And then to each other.
I cut the styrofoam to fit and measured out the lining (not pictured) for the inside of the case by draping it over the styrofoam for size and then sewed the lining together.
I placed the styrofoam and lining off to the side and and sewed up the sides of the case.
Sewed the lining, along with the zipper, to the case.
Placed the styrofoam squares inside. I didn’t glue or sew them down because they were naturally catching on the fabric, which held them in place, as well as the lining once finished...
And, finished! A laptop case that looks like an 80′s TV screen after midnight!
All the fabric was from FAB FAB aka FREE! I love fabric samples better than yards of fabric- the small size and the amount of them in so many different colors.. Its great! It puts my mind to work in a way that the other fabrics can’t. The styrofoam was free from work and the zipper was salvaged from an old backpack of mine. Cheers to making crap and hoping that they like it :)
I wonder if Beyoncé ever wakes up and at first she's like "I fucking hate Mondays jfc let me sleep forever k bye" but then she's like "HAHA IN YA FACE I'M BEY-FUCKING-ONCÉ BITCHES I'M SO FAB HAHAHAHA" because if I were her, that would totally be me
