LOL.... I'm lucky I didn't watch this film before I had my two. It was a great movie though. Incendiary performances by all of the cast and I totally agree about the Oscars. But it got nominated for a substantial amount of other awards including a BAFTA and the Palme d'or at Cannes. Not sure I could sit through it again, brilliant or not. It gave me nightmares.

Seriously, whenever someone is asking me now why I don't want kids all I'm gonna say is this movie title. It really scared the living shit out of me because I'm convinced there are these kind of children out there which is frightening. I'm still confused though why he did let her particularly live. Was it to show in his weird twisted mind that he actually loved her?

You're right, the awards you mentioned are IMO more important now than the Oscars because we know what a joke they became the last few years. Every now and then they've had a lucky pick but in general I'm mostly sitting there thinking WTF. Especially Tilda who gave her Oscar away. She's so badass not giving a fuck about this thing. Love it!
