An old or ruined shirt or some actual fabric
Scissors or a sharp knife
Any kind of flexible plastic, like a two liter soda bottle
Duct tape or glue
Optionally: elastic and foam
If using a soda bottle, cut off top and bottom.
Cut off some fabric, and tape or glue it to the bottom of the plastic
Cut a small hole near the edge on one side of the plastic at the top, and two holes near the other edge, big enough to pull your fabric or elastic through:
Tie on one end, and pull through on the other like a buckle. This will let you adjust how tight the mask is.
The fabric along the bottom is so you'll still be able to breathe normally without the cloth right up against your mouth and nose, but your breath won't just be going out the bottom of the face shield to hit whoever the fuck is in front of you. Like the actual face shields that I have seen do.
Especially because the people wearing them have them angled outward, so that they are literally... Not doing anything.
Face shields and face masks are not interchangeable. Face shields are to stop people from spitting in your face. Normal ones don't do anything to protect anyone around you.
With cloth along the bottom of this one, it should provide AT LEAST SOME protection.
And there you fucking go. From however long ago I made my last post till when I posted the word "done", that's how long it took to make this.
You could also put fabric up at the top and along the edges if it's too sharp, you can customize it obviously, but here you go. If for whatever reason you cannot buy a face shield and you refuse to wear a mask? You can make one. It just requires a little bit of creativity.
There are also plenty plenty plenty of do-it-yourself mask making guides out there, so don't be freaking lazy, people's lives are literally at risk, do the right thing, where a mask and protect everyone from you.
You can probably find a better guide on how to make your own face shield, but I don't care. This is just to fucking prove that it's possible. I'm not actually going to wear this because I have a mask that I like, and masks work better than face shields anyways.
