How did tarn get his mask? Is there an autobot equivalent

Dear Mask Muser,

In one universe, Tarn's mask was in fact Enemy, in the form of a Facemaster. He did have a counterpart in the heroic Freedom Fighter, who acted as a Battlemask for that universe's Optimus Prime.
