4D Film Screening Ai WeiWei
While watching this Netflix film there was a scene shown where it went completely black and there was some text saying that Ai WeiWei had disappeared. This was because of a government crackdown and the police had taken him from the Beijing’s airport. They then later raided his studio.
After watching this film I realized that freedom of speech is still a huge problem occurring today in our world and Ai WeiWei was proving it with his posts on social media.
I wish people could understand the problems that people face in a country where freedom of speech isn’t seen as a right. I had no clue that this was occurring and if we could help change it the world would be a better place.
I didn’t understand some of Ai WeiWei photography such as why he would go around the world giving the middle finger to architecture to start a protest.
One of my favorite lines is at the start of the movie where he talks about how he has around 40 cats and out of all those cats one can open doors. He is that one “cat” that can open doors to the world and so people can see what is actually happening today.
Ai WeiWei is a guy who puts his life on the line so he can defend freedom of expression. His work consists of taking risks towards personal, professional, and political areas. He test his limits on freedom.
