I think people who see negative comments about Emilie should know that for the most part, we are still fans of her. We are just tired of all the bullshit shes thrown around over years from lying about her family dying in a fire, to sometimes being a shitty person to others, or saying hurtful things online. We don't want the drama, we want new music! We don't want to see or hear promises of stuff coming out or being remastered or that the musical is still coming out after ten years. We just want NEW music and are really trying to be optimistic that Emilie isn't going to quit the Inner Circle and leave members hanging like shes done in the past.
I miss when she used to be so effortlessly cool and quirky like in the early Opheliac era. Everything just feels like an act now.
I don’t know whether it’s revisionist history that so many people now claim that her late ‘00s/early 2010s fan base was mostly young teens or if my local scene just skewed older, but I always felt SO young as a teenage fan at that time. Most people I met at any EA show or fan meetup were 20+, and even the forum seemed to be majority adults (though the weird rule about not posting your age did make that harder to gauge)
I really disagree with people who say Opheliac was juvenile and childish. While I did relate to Opheliac as a teenager, I felt like I didn't truly understand the lyrics until I got older and went through abuse, domestic violence, constant sexual harassment and then…the lyrics kind of hit me like a truck. Even lines that seemed silly like, 'If I Photoshop you out of every picture I could Go quietly, quiet But would that do any good' just made more sense. It also became more clear to me that Opheliac is really an album about abuse and domestic violence. It's like, I kind of knew this as a teenager but it didn't really sink in until I was a much older adult that went through stuff. I feel like the overemphasis on the 'Asylum' in interviews and blog posts really sidelined the depth Opheliac had but I get that EA probably struggled to talk about her experiences and could only do so through performance. TAFWVG journals also felt heavilly censored and filtered, probably so she didn't get sued or feared being too overexposed. There was really so much there, if we could move past how distracting the whole Asylum sideshow was. The album was so lyrically and musically complex. At the end of the day, I think EA felt safer talking about her experiences in the psych ward than her experiences of abuse which is why the asylum quickly took over Opheliac. I guess, it is what it is.

Apparently interacting with any constructive criticisms outside the Circle gets you banned. I’m not joking, I got banned for being in a Discord server. “A bullying” server, and the bullying was being reasonably critical and not hateful. Nobody ever shared personal information about members.
She is not gonna have any fans left. I’m so disappointed because I thought she was improving. The Circle is dying and her fanbase is barely existent anymore.
I honestly wonder if she's stringing people along in the Inner Circle with the production sessions etc. to raise funds for this film she's allegedly working on (the way she talked about it on the podcast was as if it was already in production and the crew was ready to go).
But how long does it take to produce one song when you have so much music production experience??? Especially as she said GWBG was coming out in winter 2025? A least Revolver was upfront about the fact that the million dollars was to make the film and then the project fell apart. But this feels like she's pretending it's happening just to stall until they can afford to make it happen.
I was excited for anything new but now I'm just bored and disappointed again. Happy to have egg on my face if the single just drops tomorrow lol
