“Are you... pinching yourself? This isn’t a dream, sweetie.”
You looked down to see your fingers indeed squeezing the life out of your arm, and you slowly crossed your arms while staring at handsome mystery man... angel? from your dreams, flabbergasted.
“Okay... how do you know my name... how did you know where to find me... who are you???”
Ethereal angel seems to finally give in, playfully rolling his eyes and resting his head in his hands while leaning on the table, smiling at your dumbfounded expression.
“Seeing as you seem so keen on finding out, I guess I’ll share a thing or two. My name is Taehyung. I’m still not allowed to explain too much but I know a lot about you. I’ve, let’s say, seen you around. And I figured I’d do a little research of my own.”
You raise your eyebrow curiously. “Research on me?”
Taehyung laughs exuberantly now, disregarding everyone else on the second floor. “Is that weird? I know that comes off weird... but yes, on you, beautiful.”
What in the world were you experiencing and why did his words have so much impact on you. You could be losing your mind for all you know but you were swooning at his charms. Before further delving into the depths of your infinite questions, Taehyung pats the chair next to him, motioning you to sit down.
“Don’t worry lovely, I don’t bite.”
You sit down and take deep breaths to help your head stop spinning. This is a lot to take in, considering the literal man of your dreams is sitting next to you and he seems to know exactly who you are.
Why are you being so calm interacting with your stalker??
“Technically, I’m not even supposed to be here with you-”
“You said that in my dream”
“I know, I know... but I didn’t listen to them. I had to finally speak to you, figure out if my visions were correct.”
“Them? Visions? You do realize everything that’s coming out of your mouth is sounding absolutely absurd to me, right??”
All eyes were on you in your surrounding area, and you quickly blushed and mouthed “sorry” to every annoyed student that seemed to be glaring at you from their designated study spots. Taehyung seems so carefree about anything and everything, that he carries on like no one in the world can stop him.
“Darling I know it’s a lot to take in, but please just try to listen, I don’t have much time here... I envisioned someone with power that could save our world. After more nights of visions, everything pointed to you. I told everyone about it and they were curious, mostly desperate, to try anything. I do feel something very special with you, and I think it’s about time to find out... Come back tonight, okay? Meet me by the smeraldos again. I’ll explain everything else to you and hopefully you’ll get to meet our leader-”
Your mouth gapes wide but he interjects your thoughts before you could utter a single word
“-and before you ask, no, we are not in a cult.”
All you could do was close your mouth, gulp, and nod your head slowly in attempts of absorbing the nonsensical information he just loaded your ears with. At this reaction, he pushes back his chair to stand, pat your head, and smile as he walked down the stairs to leave you sitting there stupefied.
It was a shock to you that you got through work without having a mental breakdown from the conversation you held with mystery man just a few hours back, but you were just relieved to plop on your bed stomach first and let your body sink into the foam mattress, closing your eyes at just how cozy it felt to feel the cool sheets beneath you...
... and waking up in the forest yet again.
You scrunched your nose at the scent of the moss beneath you and slowly sat up, shielding your eyes as you avoided the direct sunlight that was shining right above you. You stood up to dust yourself off but cringed while looking down at your outfit.
“Damnit, I forgot to change...”
Your work outfits were nothing you were normally ashamed of, considering you had on a delicate pastel pink dress decorated with light blue flowers and ruffles, but you really only dressed for yourself, never to make any sort of impression on anyone else, especially beautiful otherworldly men, for that matter. Unfortunately for you, you couldn’t really do anything in that manner considering you never really knew how you got here and never knew how the hell you could leave.
Shrugging your shoulders, you deicide to trudge on in the direction you went last night, remember Taehyung’s request. If it wasn’t for his bright pink hair and devastating good looks, he would’ve looked like any average student you’d see at your university, and you wouldn’t freak out so much at his statement of “watching you for a while,” but you still couldn’t shake the fact that he literally visited you outside of your dreams. What man could have that power???
Your train of thought stopped as you reached the clearing of the flower field, and you saw mystery man crouching down and observing a small patch of flowers in front of you. Not knowing what to do, you nervously clear your throat, prompting the angelic being to turn to you and smile.
“My, Y/N, you clean up well. Come, join me here.”
It’s insane how fast you react at his honey toned words, as you immediately jump to catch up to where he’s now kneeling, and you follow his lead.
“Good morning, by the way, beautiful.”
God, can he stop making you blush.
“M-morning, Taehyung...”
He giggles playfully, causing your heart to swell in infatuation.
“These beauties here are called smeraldo flowers. In our world, they possess the power to reveal ultimate truths, whether they be obvious, or hidden down completely.”
You nod, trying to follow along, and he continues.
“I watch over them every single day from anything that would harm them, which is why I managed to frighten you yesterday, which, I’m sorry for.”
You can only laugh at his apology, considering he’s managed to frighten you in many other aspects than this. “It’s alright, thank you for apologizing though.”
He smiles. “Of course, it’d be a shame to scare away our hope of saving Luna.”
“Luna...? Like... Luna: The Enchanted Dreamland?” Here you were, shocked yet again at how everything was ever so slowly falling into place.
“Hm? Have you seen our books before? That’s... a good sign. Only fairies are capable of seeing them.”
“FAIRIES??”
You swear as conflicting as it is to hear Taehyung laugh in response to you confusion, you’re practically falling in love with it now.
“You can’t already tell, sweetie? My, this all must be so much for you... We are fairies in this beautiful land we call Luna. Our home. And there’s lots of us here, with different powers, talents, magic, blah blah blah. I’ll show you to my group in a little, but I needed you to meet me here first. If you could, please pick two flowers, Y/N.”
You tilt your head wearily, considering he was so against you remotely touching them yesterday, but obey his commands and follow in the direction he stands and walks towards, casually following him from behind as he leads you through the forest.
“If you’re a fairy... where are your wings?”
Really. Did you just ask him that. Were you being rude to ask a fairy that...?
“Oh, I was being rather playful when I showed you them” he giggles happily “but we don’t have to use them all the time, let alone show them. Just when we need them.”
You wanted to ask if he could hold you now while he flew you to your next location because you were starting to feel the tiredness in your legs from work, but heard a rush of water in the distance, eventually reaching a rather enchanting waterfall. In a clearing in the green forest was a lake filled with the clearest blue water that came from the tall, majestic waterfall itself. The air here was sparkling even more here than anywhere you’ve been so far in Luna, and you questioned how you could still get so enchanted after every new sight you’ve seen in this world, considering all of it has just been plain beautiful.
You tread carefully on a rocky path that led underneath the waterfall into what looked to be a small cave, lit dimly by candle light on each side. You took a few more steps inside for Taehyung to reveal a small pedestal-like rock, illuminated by a small sliver of sunlight shining through the cracks of the rocks above. You now turn to him and await his next directions.
“This is Te Stesso Cave, the place where only powerful fairies are allowed to uncover truths that deserve to be told. I told you to pick two, as the one discovering the truths have to present it on the pedestal, and well I know you’ve been hesitant to it all, so I gave you a free trial. Ask a question, anything true will allow the smeraldo to turn completely white and sparkle underneath the light, while if something is false, the flower turns completely blue.”
Any question on Luna would be a waste considering you had Taehyung here to truthfully tell you just what is going on, so you pondered the question you wanted to ask for a few moments. With a deep breath, you step forward and ask “My brother, Lucas... is he... will he ever come back to save me?”
Taehyung steps to the side of you, gently placing his hand on your shoulder in attempts to give a comforting touch. You stare at the smeraldo for a brief second, then place it on the pedestal, awaiting it’s response, and in just a few moments, the flower starts to glisten in the light, slowly revealing a shade of pearly white.
You feel tears well in your eyes. He may have not been writing back to the endless letters you’ve sent to his building, but he must be working hard to make ends meet. He must be working to come back in time for you.
“I’m glad to know he will be, Y/N.”
You manage to smile in his direction, still avoiding eye contact to make sure you don’t just break down completely, but Taehyung nods to let you know he wants you to carry on with the next flower, and you nod in return.
“Now, if my visions have been correct about you all along... ask ‘am I a divine fairy?’“
“Divine fairy... that sounds like a very, very important title to withhold...” you whisper aloud nervously, and at this Taehyung wraps his arm around you as his hand rests on your other shoulder. What would be another comforting act has you blushing as pink as his gorgeous hair, but you sigh and say as he says.
“Am I... a divine fairy?”
You reach down to place the second flower on the pedestal and await it’s glow. This flower seems to take a longer reaction time than the other one, which makes both you and Taehyung nervous, making him remove his arm from your shoulder, his expression changing into something more worried.
It doesn’t change for a minute, still it’s white and blue color scheme. Taehyung paces behind you while you stare at what seems like a lifeless flower.
“But... my visions... they’re never, ever wrong... how could I be led astray?”
At this you turn to face him sorrowfully. “I-I’m sorry Taehyung, I-”
He interrupts you as he sees sparkles shining behind you, and you both turn in bewilderment, waiting to see what color it turns.
With an incredible display of golden sparkles, the smeraldo becomes a glimmering and glowing white, and Taehyung jumps with joy, his happiness seeming to make his wings appear as he ends up sparkling all over as well.
“This, this is good, right??” You don’t even know how to react at the news you’ve just received, but you’re surely feeling happy about it.
Taehyung flutters to you and hugs you endearingly, and you close your eyes and smile at the sudden warm embrace.
“This, this is amazing news, Y/N! Or should I say...” he takes a step back, kneels on one knee, and bows his head down at you while you look at him baffled of his gesture
“Divine fairy, Y/N.”
