Day Twenty One of October Photo a Day Challenge is "Happy" this is a Mistletoe bath ballistic from the @lush Christmas range. Today it made me happy because it has the same scent as the first ballistic I ever loved from Lush: Fairy Jasmine.It has huge sentimental value to me. snape stans are on a whole other level i dont get how anyone read the books and came away with the opinion that snape was a perfect baby angel.  he did have an awful (probably abusive) childhood and snape stans try to use that to condone his actions and its just like lol no no no stop talking you are just WRONG

That's so typical of academia, isn't it? I remember we had a 50 page article we had to read in an Archaeology class once, all of it in German. I had never had a German class in my life. Just... WHY.

Yeah, I think professors can sometimes forget that their students don't have the same specialized knowledge that they have. I can't believe you had to read an article that was ENTIRELY in German, though. That's simultaneously awful and hilarious.

It came out in November, at least in UK? Hope it's really good! I want to cry everytime I think about his illness, I want him to write 4-ever. Haven't read Brom. or JM, but I think I borrowed one of them when I was younger and then... didn't read it?

Oh god, when I found out, I nearly did just start sobbing then and there.  He's been writing almost as long as I've been alive, so the thought of him not writing anymore is just...guh.  I hope it's good.  I read some reviews that said it was a little difficult to get into, which was part of the problem with Snuff...we'll see.  I'm going to hunt for it this weekend.

Bromeliad Trilogy is wonderful, and Johnny Maxwell is fantastic.  They're definitely for younger readers, even his young adult books tend to have rather weighty concepts sort of...hidden in there?  Because I'm a firm believer that he's of the idea that kids are a lot smarter than most people give them credit for.

Like, okay, remember how Susan was saying that she was teaching kids algebra, and the headmistress said they weren't old enough for that?  And Susan replied that it was a good thing no one had told them that?  I feel like that's sort of his standard M.O. with kids...don't tell them they're too young to understand something, and they just might surprise you.

Yeah, 'Snuff' isn't my favourite either, I must agree. Have you read the new one, btw? I want to buy it for my Kindle; I actually have no room on our shelves. The Discworld books are already piled up, haha.

Ummm....Raising Steam?  I thought that it wasn't out until March?  And I know what you mean...Discworld--well, Terry Pratchett in general, really--dominates my bookshelf.  Have you read the Bromeliad Trilogy?  Or the Johnny Maxwell books?

But yeah, I think he might have been trying to go for a sort of Austen feel with Snuff, and it didn't...quite work.  It kind of felt like it was ghost-written--which wouldn't totally be out of the question, but it would make me sad.  I dunno, it sort of felt like all the characters I love being done by someone who didn't quite *get* them, you know?

OH MY GOD RIGHT??  Thud is definitely one of the best.  Holy crap, man.  Which is good, because Snuff...left something to be desired.  Which made me sad.
