COMMON TYPES OF CONSUMER FRAUDS
Since consumers have the right to consumer education, which includes the right to know even the frauds in the market.
Some of the common consumer frauds have been listed below;
• Fake products: This is a very common scam whereby replicas of known branded products are manufactured and consumers are made to believe that the product is original.
• Misleading advertisements: Running of misleading advertisement which makes one believe that the goods or services have a particular quality or other features which in reality are not present.
• Advance fee fraud: The consumer pays a certain amount of fees and he is promised in return some money, product or service or an offer to participate in a special deal but in reality, it is merely a means of monetary exploitation of consumers.
• Identity theft fraud: In this fraud, the details of the consumers are accessed by someone else and he uses the credentials of consumers for benefiting himself.
• Nigerian fraud: This fraud is a combination of identity theft and advance
