Enjoy the tastes of falafel in the form of a burger! Middle Eastern spices make these chickpea patties crispy. They are served in burger buns with fresh vegetables and a creamy sauce.
Ingredients: 1 cup dried chickpeas. 1/2 large onion, roughly chopped. 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley. 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro. 1 teaspoon salt. 1-2 cloves of garlic. 1 teaspoon cumin. 1 teaspoon baking powder. 4-6 tablespoons flour. Sliced tomatoes, lettuce, and red onion, for garnish. 4 burger buns. Tahini sauce or yogurt-based dressing.
Instructions: Place dried chickpeas in a bowl and cover with cold water. Allow them to soak overnight, then drain. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, onion, parsley, cilantro, salt, garlic, and cumin. Process until blended but not pureed. Sprinkle in baking powder and 4 tablespoons of flour, and pulse. Add more flour as needed until the mixture forms a small ball and can be shaped into patties. Form the mixture into 4 burger-sized patties and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Heat 2-3 inches of oil in a pan to 375F 190C. Fry the patties for about 4 minutes per side, or until they are browned and crispy. Serve the falafel patties in burger buns, garnished with sliced tomatoes, lettuce, red onion, and a drizzle of tahini sauce or yogurt-based dressing.
