summary: recovery is a grueling and arduous process for everyone, but especially for fali. he can't see past the warrior he used to be versus the one he is now, post-injury. he won't let anyone in... well, except for [y/n].
fali (oc) x sully!reader
a/n: this is kind of insane to think i'm writing this right now, but also i forgot how fun it is to create and publish works. anyway, i know it took me a long time to carry out my promises, but here is a long-awaited little blurb (?) about our beloved fali and [y/n], two names that i haven't written down in about like... two-ish years, give or take? a bit less, but the point still stands. i hope you guys enjoy! and i pray that i live up to your expectations.
lean on me, when you're not strong
[y/n] was always observant. as the eldest of five, never mind being the eldest girl, she'd felt the need to read everyone's facial expressions, their emotions, their expectations, their needs, their wants, their desires. it was just as much a survival tactic as it was an instinct. when things tended to change so abruptly in her childhood, whether that be one of her siblings crying (and lead to her mother nearly having a meltdown herself) or the arrival of the sky-people, she was always there to expect and, in its stead, to soothe.
but, some of that instinct fell away when she began training with her father. she was no longer expected to be the caretaker in an emotion sense, but rather a protector. her observant nature proved her worthy as she had the advantage of throwing her opponent off with a simple comment (like the time she took a chance and teased a childhood friend of her crush on neteyam before pinning her all because she was distracted) or merely reading their next move.
however, interestingly enough, with her time spent living with the metkayina, and fali obviously, [y/n] had started to evolve into her older self. no longer in fear of the sky-people since they managed to defeat them, [y/n] has once again returned to her caregiving nature.
although, perhaps a lot of that is because of fali.
while [y/n] had come out of the womb strong yet soft, in some ways, fali had come out as a true warrior. screaming bloody murder, naturally. but, while his infancy was a loud few years (he really had no trouble figuring out the functions of his vocal chords), it was also an exciting few years.
he'd always bounced around, itching to learn the ways of warriors from his parents. fali was naturally proud--of his heritage, of his family, of his people. in an entirely different way, fali too had the natural urge to protect.
but, that's why it'd been so difficult for him to recover. not physically, because eywa knows how seriously he took every assignment, every exercise, every appointment because he knew that was the only way to return to the past, but... emotionally, it was a taxing time.
fali had always been the one to protect his family. even though his parents were respected warriors, they were old. they'd managed to have fali late in their years, and they often called him a miracle from eywa herself.
not only did he concern himself over his parents, but he also practically adopted aonung and tsireya as his baby siblings. he'd protected them all through their years growing up, although he did treat them as a normal older brother at times. if he remembered correctly, fali was the first one who aonung ever got into a physical tussle with. that being said, fali was also the first one to give aonung a black eye.
but now, after taking a wound so dangerous that it was nearly fatal, fali was left... as the weakest link. now, his parents had to take care of him. now, tsireya and aonung could barely look at him without guilt or pity clouding their eyes. now, he was... he was useless.
and worst of all, he needed help.
of course, fali never really asked for help. for the first few weeks of recovery, he would struggle on his own, cry on his own, yell at the sky on his own. it was such an alien feeling to hate himself as much as he did. somehow hate that he'd survived the wound.
he never told that to anyone, of course, but he didn't really need to because someone was always watching him.
[y/n] had let him be for those first weeks. she knew what he was feeling--not totally, but she recognized his independence and protective nature. that's honestly why they'd been so drawn to each other in the first place. but, just because she left him alone didn't mean she wasn't paying attention.
her fingers curled into fists at her sides. her feet itched to move, to run to him, to hold him together when he was breaking apart. but she forced herself to stay still. she fought the urge every time she saw him break down into a puddle of tears, every time he gave up and threw his cane in the sand, every time he unleashed a rage she recognized too deeply. she would not step in unless he needed her, that's what she kept telling herself.
that is, until one morning, when the sun is just peeking above the horizon and the ocean is already awake with creatures jumping, dancing, singing, and celebrating the beauty of pandora, [y/n] woke up with a jolt.
she had no idea why--she usually slept quite soundly until the first horn was blown, but there was something stirring in her blood. something she didn't fully recognize, but she felt that same familiar adrenaline pumping, that same familiar sixth sense that whispered to her, get up. you're needed.
at first, she was confused, although frantic because all the worst possibilities popped into her head. tuk? she wondered before her eyes scanned the floor of their marui only to find her fast asleep in their mother's arms. next to them was her father, still unconscious and snoring quite loudly. the rest of her siblings were fine too, she realized quickly.
so then, what was it?
that's when she finally walked outside, standing on the docks and scanning the horizon with squinted eyes.
oh, she breathed, fingers softly brushing her mouth at the sight that beheld her on the beach. "oh, fali," she whispered, shaking her head.
it wasn't an unordinary sight, her love crouched on the ground, cane resting in the sand as his shoulders shook from silent sobs. but, something about that morning, his depressing sight juxtaposed by the bright sunrise behind him... it made [y/n]'s heart drop into her stomach.
as she walked carefully from her marui to the beach in which fali awaited her, although unbeknownst to him, her mind shuffled through a thousand different things to say. questions to ask, answers to demand, comforting words to whisper. should she rub his back? kiss him? how would she like to be treated? she thought she'd want to be left alone, but maybe... maybe that wasn't right.
unfortunately for her, her thoughts must've grown too loud because she hadn't realized how noticeable her footsteps must've been. just as she was nearing fali, the boy froze and turned around to look at her.
as her eyes met his, her heart stopped. he looked.... well, he looked awful. not because of the puffy skin atop his cheek bones, or pale skin, or even the pained grimace on his face... it was something about his eyes. they didn't sparkle, not like they usually did, they were... dull. they were hurt. they weren't fali.
and that's when [y/n] realized it really didn't matter how much planning she did on the walk here because, when it really comes down to it, when it comes to the person she loved the most, the words were natural. they came to her like waves did to the shore.
"oh, my tìyawn," she whispered, voice soft against the song of the birds that flew above their heads. "i'm so sorry."
there was something about those simple words--just three simple words--that made something within fali click. for as long as he'd been recovering, everyone had tried to stay strong for him, tried to encourage him, to motivate him. never once had someone... empathized with him. not until then, that is.
fali's breath hitched. his shoulders trembled, as if he were trying to hold himself together, but the dam was cracking. and when [y/n] sat beside him, warmth against his cold solitude, the first tear finally fell.
"fali," she whispered, setting a hand on his, and she watched as his lip trembled, "fali, i am sorry that this has happened to you. i'm sorry it had been so hard adjusting, i'm sorry everything feels so different. it is so hard to be in this situation, and i realize... i realize i abandoned you. i thought it was the right thing to do, i thought you needed space, but really... you needed someone."
she grabbed his hand, softly, lifting it up to her lips and pressing a soft kiss. "you will get through this, fali. you will grow stronger—not just in body, but in spirit. learning to adapt isn’t weakness. it’s wisdom. and you won’t do it alone. i’ll be with you, every step."
fali exhaled shakily, as if the weight of the world had settled deep in his chest and was only now beginning to lift. he didn’t speak. he didn’t need to.
instead, his fingers curled around [y/n]’s, gripping her hand as if she were the only thing keeping him tethered. and maybe, in that moment, she was.
[y/n] squeezed back, saying nothing. just being there. just being his.
Fali x reader where reader is being hit on and starts to get increasingly jealous?
guys... i can't lie... i think fali may be locked away in the vault forever... it's been like threeish years since i created him/since the last time i wrote for him. if i have a bunch of people asking for it, i will revive him, but (and at risk of sounding selfish) i really don't want to put a bunch of effort in -- because each oneshot really does take time and energy -- for it to not gain a lot of traction.
i hope you guys can understand! but, again, if a lot of people are pushing for it, then i will make it work.
i just love the idea of jake and neytiri both feeling guilty that they didn’t let y/n have as much of a childhood as the other kids since she’s the eldest sibling, and not knowing how to show her that in their new home she could start to relax. and then enter fali who turns her into a pile of goo <3
summary: [y/n] and fali find themselves sharing an unforgettable moment down at the beach.
a/n: short and sweet , but emotional. sure , fali is a really strong warrior and all , but he knows that with [y/n] , he has a different role. this kind of follows the events of the reason i live , but you don’t need to read it to understand. reblogs + feedback are always appreciated !!
warnings: fluff, sad, mentions of fali’s injury / bullet wound, kind of hurt + comfort ??

save the heart
[y/n] was no stranger to childhood trauma. it’s not that she didn’t love or appreciate her parents for keeping them safe, but she didn’t necessarily have fond memories of her upbringing in a household that was far more secure than it was fun.
of course, there always were moments. moments that were seared into her brain as core memories, scenes that replayed over and over of her father playing in the water with them as children, of her mother singing her songcord, of her siblings playing tag.
but, the good memories could never outweigh the fact that her childhood practically didn’t exist. from the moment she was of age, she began to train. train to become tsahik, train to lead her people, train to be someone that the omaticaya looked up to.
just when she finally reached her full potential, they had to leave.
the only thing in her new life that eased that pain was fali. the way he held her, the way he kissed her, the way his eyes stared at her softly. fali was the only reason that she began to think, maybe this is the reason we left.
fali was the reason she began to believe in the will of eywa again. for a minute there, when everything fell apart, when she was stolen from the life she’d known since the moment she was born, she felt alone.
it was only him that made her understand that the reasoning for eywa’s choices were beyond her understanding.
everyday she was reminded of the way eywa blessed her. every moment she saw fali, every moment she spent with him, every time she melted in his embrace. he turned her into complete goo.
one of those times, however, became a night that she could never forget. it became a memory that sat right next to the fond memories of her father and mother, a memory that warmed her soul at the thought of it.
the two were spending their time on the beach. it was a late night, and even though they were out past curfew, neither could find enough effort to care. it’d been a long week of solving problem after problem due to the battle just days before.
they were not only physically tired, but emotionally tired. the detriment left on the villages was enough to shatter their hearts, enough to reignite the anger in [y/n]’s bones.
not to mention, fali was confined to light work, as much as he hated it. all he wanted to do was help! but, alas, he was still healing from the bullet wound. it was a miracle ronal even allowed him out, although she knew that he would end up going out even if she told him no.
fali was leaned back against a rock, [y/n] curled up against his side to collect the warmth that his body offered. the two watched the waves wash against the shore in front of them, the sound offering a moment of tranquility, something they hadn’t had in a long time.
they didn’t say a single word. what was there to talk about? guilt settled in their guts at the thought of enjoying their time together when so many na’vi were suffering from the loss of homes, the loss of family members. they were so lucky that they could even sit together and watch the waves.
the first thing to spark conversation was a flash of light in the distance.
“woah,” [y/n] breathed out, sitting up as her eyes gazed upon the moonlit sky ahead of them. “did you see that?”
"hm?” fali mumbled, voice tired. “what’d you say?”
[y/n] snorted at his exhausted state. “don’t tell me you fell asleep.”
“no, no,” he muttered, stifling a yawn. a beat of silence, and then, “yes.”
she laughed, eyes not leaving the night sky. “look up,” [y/n] prompted, voice soft in his ear.
fali was quick to follow her directions, eyes widening at the sight of a shooting star. “eywa,” he sighed in awe.
“a shooting star,” she breathed, her fingers brushing lightly overtop his abs. without even looking, she traced the markings of his tattoo, a pattern that she’d grown so accustomed to because of how often she admired its design.
he hummed, a deep rumble vibrating his chest. she smiled at the feeling, eyes closing in comfort. “my father says that they are rocks.”
“rocks?” he raises the muscles above his eyes.
[y/n] laughed softly. “they are moving so fast in space, they appear bright. isn’t that neat?”
“so, even ugly rocks can appear as pretty stars?” fali mused, a down-turned smile appearing on his lips. “it’s like you!”
[y/n] gasped in mock defense, slapping his shoulder. “you are so mean!”
“i kid!” he laughed, leaning his head back against the rock. “you are ugly on the inside and out.”
“says you.” [y/n] stuck her tongue out, her finger poking his side gently. “when you swim through the reef, all the fish swim home so they can avoid seeing your disgusting face.”
fali guffawed playfully. “it’s actually because they’re scared of me.” he raised his biceps, flexing. “i am a mighty warrior!”
“more like a mighty skxwang.”
[y/n] let out a yelp as fali stands up, grabbing her and throwing her body over his shoulder. she beat her hands against his back, laughter flooding her voice as she yelled, “put me down!”
“you must admit that i am the mightiest warrior.”
“i would rather die.”
“as you wish, yawne.”
[y/n] screamed again as she feels her body dump into the cold sea, salty water washing over her face. as she resurfaced, sputtering, fali’s face immediately drops.
“fali,” she growled softly, eyes narrowed at the boy.
“i think i have to go, actually—”
[y/n] launched herself out of the water, limbs flying everywhere as she landed on his back. as rough as she goes on him when they wrestle, she was particularly careful to avoid his injury.
and that’s how the two of them found themselves rolling around in the sand, laughter floating through the breeze. only the crash of the waves drowned them out.
“who is the mightiest?” [y/n] cries playfully, straddling him as she sits atop his back. when he mumbles something quietly, she pauses. “what was that?”
“you.”
“sorry, i can’t hear you.”
“[y/n] te suli neytiri’ite!” he practically yelled, leaving [y/n] clutching her stomach as she rolled off of him, gasping for breath through her laughter.
after her round of giggles subsided, she found herself sprawled out on the wet sand, fali right beside her. she caught her breath, a smile still evident on her lips.
“you are the mightiest warrior,” he teased, turning to look at her. “but even the mightiest warriors need someone to protect them.”
she rose her eyebrows at that. “from what?”
he smiled gently, grabbing her hands in his own. “from herself.”
[y/n]’s joyful expression faltered, eyebrows dropping in confusion. “what does that even mean—”
fali hushed her, bringing her hands to his lips as he pressed a soft kiss to each knuckle. “it means that, no matter how hard you fight in battle, i will forever be here to make sure that you are okay—” he presses a soft hand to her heart— “in here.”
she blinked away rising tears, eyes traveling back to the sky.
“even the mightiest warriors have hearts, yawne.” he scooted closer, arms wrapping around her. “and i think that it is because of their hearts that they are so great. but, we must keep that heart safe, [y/n], or else you will not be so mighty.”
she closed her eyes, whimpering as a tear was sent down her cheek. “i wish it were easier.”
“i know you do. but, that is why i am here. to keep your heart safe. to keep my warrior safe.”
loved your recent with fali and y/n…maybe something where they get caught intensely kissing by jake and neytiri😫 i feel like y/n is very similar to neytiri so she likes to be sarcastic and teasing towards fali (lowk bullying him BUT IN AN ENDEARING WAY) :)) and he just soaks it up.
summary: jake a neytiri walk in on [y/n] and fali during a very intimate moment, and [y/n] doesn’t pass the opportunity up to tease fali.
a/n: AHH !! THIS WAS SO CUTE !! I WANNA CRY I LOVE THEM I LOVE THIS !! okay thank you so much for requesting this, you have fed the fluff and adorable necessity inside my soul. feedback + reblogs are always appreciated !!
warnings: so cute, so very cute, neytiri and jake walking in on a makeout session, [y/n] feeling comfy enough to be a lil jokester, couple goals, family goals, just goals in general, adorable, crying because it’s cute, neytiri and jake joking about being “safe” iykwim, the cheesiest final sentence ever, i think that’s it tbh
red handed
things were moving fast. too fast. and yet, [y/n] couldn’t get enough. she couldn’t keep her hands off of him, and he couldn’t keep himself away from her. fali couldn’t even bring himself to take his eyes off of her. she was far too beautiful.
the sand was hot. as [y/n]’s lips roamed his body—his mouth, his neck, his chest—she could feel his cold hands holding onto her hips. fali’s grip was tight, unmoving. he couldn’t get enough of her.
fali was sat up against a rock, its jagged edges digging into his skin. it was worth it, though. on top of him sat [y/n], her legs straddling his lower body. as he held her in place, her soft hands cradled his head, pressing their faces together.
besides the sound of the ocean crashing against the other side of the rock they were hidden behind, all fali could hear was his heart beat. it took over his senses, kept his awareness heightened at every moment.
it’d just been moments before. moments before when the two walked the beach alongside the children, laughing as ao’nung challenged lo’ak to a race. neteyam balanced tuk on his shoulders, jumping into the waves as their laughter echoed for miles. tsireya and kiri watched lo’ak and ao’nung, their heads shaking in disappointment, but even they could not hide their laughter and amusement.
fali and [y/n]’d been holding hands as they strolled, feet sinking into the wet sand. [y/n] was running her thumb up and down along the backside of her lover’s hand, feeling his scars and scabs from the years of war and training. she couldn’t help but find them beautiful—marks that each had their own unique story.
as she felt over his skin, [y/n] couldn’t help but let her gaze travel. she looked up his arm, eyes scanning his muscular biceps, a smirk surfacing onto her lips as she thought about just hours before when those same arms held her throughout the night.
eventually, her stare reached his broad shoulders. they were built and extremely strong. she barely even thought before her free hand was reaching out, softly brushing overtop his skin, pointer tracing the marks that’d once been cuts. [y/n] barely even noticed as they slowed their walking to a stop.
silence consumed them as fali turned, staring at her gorgeous face as she was occupied with feeling every scar on his body. he inhaled sharply as she trailed up his neck, outlining his jawline.
a thumb gently brushed over the stripe of healed flesh that scarred the right side of her face. he closed his eyes, sinking into her hand’s warmth.
[y/n] didn’t dare move her palm from where it carefully braced his head, but she let her thumb travel the slightest bit, stroking the dip between his nose and cheek. when he opened his eyes again, a soft smile graced her lips.
[y/n] let herself untangle her other hand’s fingers from the grasp of fali, bringing it upwards and towards his face, mirroring the same actions just on the opposite cheek.
fali stood, staring at her with eyes that held absolute awe and wonder for how he was able to win enough of eywa’s favor to bless him with her. it was when her leaned in to kiss her that the yearning—the necessity to touch her, to kiss her—began.
she held his face, he held her hips. their lips were fit to perfection, as if they were made to be together. and they most definitely were. when fali’s hand began to trail up her back… well, [y/n] broke the kiss, dragging him behind her as they resumed behind the rock.
and now, they sat there breathlessly in love. and she would not have it any other way. plus, it kept the kids from witnessing it. ( but, come on, let’s be real—tsireya and kiri definitely watched the entire thing unfold and as soon as they disappeared, they ran to tell everyone. )
the couple was so wrapped up in their adoration, their love, for each other, [y/n] thought to herself, nothing could ruin this. apparently, eywa took this as a challenge.
because, just as [y/n] broke the kiss with a smile, attempting to catch her breath, her ears flicked at the sound of a familiar, “tsk tsk.” fali’s mortified eyes immediately sent her turning around. the two figures that stood behind them made her heart drop.
“mom.” her voice was quiet, a hiss evident in her voice as she cringed at the situation. “dad.” that one sent fali over the edge of embarrassment. not only were they caught kissing very intimately, but they were caught by his girlfriend’s parents. could it get any worse? ( yes. )
“good evening, child.” at her mother’s smirk, [y/n] shook her head and turned back to look at fali. with a huff of air, she pushed herself up, standing up from where she previously sat on top of him. oh, eywa.
jake cleared his throat, fighting the teasing smile on his face. a few months ago, yeah, he would have been pissed. but, after countless events in which fali had not only saved the lives of his children, but also kept his oldest daughter happy, he didn’t mind the two. in fact, he completely encouraged the relationship. it was… cute. “looks like you two had fun.”
“please leave.” [y/n] held her face in her hands, now sat down with her legs crossed right next to fali. he remained silent, unable to speak as his face was far too indigo and heart far too fast.
neytiri laughed at her daughter, a joyful smile taking control of her features. she, like jake, was a full supporter of [y/n] and fali. not only was he kind, respectful, but he was an amplifier of her daughter’s abilities. neytiri’s favorite version of [y/n] was the version where she was not only happy, but strong. a strong woman meant strong babies, and strong babies meant a strong future.
“you aren’t doing anything… unsafe, are you?”
“mom!” [y/n] groaned, dropping her chin to her chest in embarrassment. a few beats of silence and then, “we would never do it on the beach.”
fali’s eyes widened at that as both parents barked laughter. their faces were full of shock—never had their daughter so much… character! it was now fali’s turn to cover his face with his hands, but no amount of coverage could hide the blush the crept down his neck.
“but,” [y/n] sighed, smiling at fali’s embarrassment ( mission accomplished ). “if you must know, we were merely kissing—”
“that’s more than just kissing,” her father pointed out. fali wanted to dig a hole in the sand to die in.
[y/n] waved her hand in dismissal. “more than just kissing, not enough to be considered anything else.” she smacked fali with her tail. “wouldn’t you say?”
“i hate you.”
the trio of sullys burst into laughter. “oh, you are too sensitive, fali. if you can’t handle the idea of our intimacy being public, how ever will we announce the day in which we are officially mated?”
“oh my eywa,” fali groaned, amusement and distress evident in his eyes once he finally uncovered them. “i am leaving.”
just as he attempted to stand up, [y/n] whined. “no! do not leave.” he jokingly huffed as he sat back down on the sand. “now you two,” she said, turning back to her parents. “you two are more than dismissed. you ruined a perfectly fine kiss.”
neytiri gave her a look. “kiss?”
“—ing session. kissing session. is that better?”
the sully parents only laughed, turning around to walk away. but, just before they could get too far, neytiri turned back around and loudly whispered, “stay safe. i do not need a grandchild.”
“goodbye, mother!”
as her parents walked away in the distance, [y/n] settled a smile on her face. she turned to fali, her hand grabbing his ear teasingly.
“hey!” he defied, exasperated with her antics. “what is with you today? you are… you are like a child!” fali could not wipe the amused smile off of his lips.
[y/n]’s jaw dropped in mock offense. “i am the child? you are funny for that, fali.” she let go of his ear, but not before smacking him on the head. “you are the one who is scared of my parents.”
“your dad could have beat me up.”
“see, that is a childish fear.”
he laughed, grabbing the girl right above the hips, fingers digging into her ticklish spots. she burst into laughter as they rolled around on the sand.
“you are the child!” they alternated the declaration, words loud but laughter even louder. but, perhaps the loudest of it all was the love they had for each other.
what about neteyam bringing home someone (romantic) and fali and y/n just teasing the shit out of them in front of the family😭😭
summary: [y/n] knows neteyam’s big secret.
a/n: okay i’m actually crying this is so short but so sweet. like not only does it embody fali and [y/n]’s dynamic , but it’s a strong example of how much [y/n] loves her baby siblings. she would do anything for them , despite how much she teases them. i hope you all enjoy reading as much as i enjoyed writing !! reblogs + feedback are always appreciated !!
warnings: literally nothing, sm fluff, the cutest thing i have possibly ever written, healthy sibling relationships
words: 895 ( sorry y’all , it’s much shorter than i meant , but i didn’t wanna ruin it by adding too much !! )
baby brother’s got a girl
not once in her life could [y/n] have imagined any of her baby brothers bagging a girl.
sure, they had their father’s genes, but they also had their father’s stupidity, a trait that was communicated through their inability to woo any girl their age. trust me when i say that [y/n] has witnessed a multitude of failed attempts, especially back when they still lived in high camp.
as long as she knew her brothers, which was for about fourteen to sixteen years—roughly—she also knew they were a hot commodity based on their mere titles as the sons of the toruk makto. that always crashed and burned as soon as they talked due to the unfortunate fact that boys were just too awkward to flirt back.
that’s why [y/n] was absolutely floored when she found out lo'ak's attempts with tsireya were actually successful.
hey, she supposed. anything can happen in awa’atlu, right? i mean, i found love, which was thought impossible just a year ago.
but, there was a difference between impossible and just out of this goddamn world. it was just a few days ago that [y/n] realized, not only did lo’ak have a girl of his own, but neteyam did.
neteyam, of course, had no idea that [y/n] knew. he was trying to keep it a secret. only until they were, well, official past the mutual flirting stage. he also thought that he was being sly… he was not!
it was one night when, after neytiri and jake left to go meet up with some of the clan’s adults for some social thing ( the metkayina loved to party ), neteyam quietly tip-toed past where [y/n] laid stretched out on the ground, admiring the ceiling in complete and utter boredom.
“where are you going, bro?” [y/n] sat up with a grin.
he froze immediately, eyes closing in frustration. “uh, just… out.” neteyam slowly turned towards her with an innocent smile.
“out?” she questioned, eyes widening in amusement. when he only nodded, she pushed herself up off the ground, standing on her two feet. “so, this has nothing to do with ipey?”
“shit,” he cursed, head dropping in defeat.
“ahah!” [y/n] declared, pointing at him. at the sound of the rest of their siblings shifting in their sleep, she immediately quieted down. “ahah,” she repeated in a whisper.
“[y/n],” he bagged quietly, walking towards her and grabbing her shoulders. “please do not tell anyone. please!” neteyam pulled her in, nose to nose, and [y/n] had to keep herself from breaking into laughter. “i do not need mom and dad up my ass about this right now.”
[y/n] bit her bottom lip in amusement. “aw, poor baby boy and his private life.” neteyam only gave her an unamused look. “okay, okay!” [y/n] stepped backwards, hands raised in mock defense. “your secret’s safe with me.”
“thank you,” neteyam breathed out, relief flooding his voice.
“but!” he looked back up, eyes flaring in concern. “only if you don’t mind fali and me just… taking a casual stroll on the beach, maybe keeping an eye out for disobedient teenagers.”
“are you kidding?”
[y/n] only smiled. “not in the slightest!” at that, fali stepped out from the doorway where he’d been standing for the past few minutes to listen to the discussion.
“don’t worry, bud, we’re just gonna be out there to keep our favorite sully boy from doing anything gross.” fali grinned deviously.
at the same time that neteyam protested, “you are disgusting,” lo’ak’s voice called from where he slept. “hey!”
neteyam’s jaw-dropped at that. “now lo’ak knows?”
[y/n] only laughed. “oh, please, he already knew.”
“yeah!” he yelled from the back of the marui. “i’m the one who told [y/n] and fali in the first place.”
“he also told the rest of us,” kiri mumbled with a tired huff. tuk hummed in agreement.
neteyam dropped his head in defeat. “i hate all of you. like, every single one of you. so, so much.”
“aw, you don’t mean that, little brother!” [y/n] cried teasingly as he spun around and stomped out the door. “you love us!”
“stay safe, make good choices!” fali echoed, the couple laughing as he only shook his head, shoulders tense and full of annoyance.
they only watched from the dock as he made his way across the beach, disappearing once he turned the corner. [y/n] smiled from where she leaned against fali, his arm wrapped around her in comfort.
“you think he’s gonna be okay?” fali wondered quietly.
[y/n] only chuckled. “i hope so. i cannot handle a heart-broken neteyam. that would be, like, the worst thing in the entire world.”
“is it because you love your brother so much?” fali teased.
“uh, no,” she replied dryly. “it’s because i don’t want to deal with tears and snot.”
fali dropped her head back, letting out a loud stream of laughter at that. the vibrations of his chest sent a smile across [y/n]’s face, her body melting into his embrace even more.
“oh, please,” he whispered once he calmed down. “you would drop anything to make sure he’s okay.”
“i hate when you’re right.”
with that, he pressed a kiss on top of her head. “and yet, here we are.”
she nodded slowly, closing her eyes and leaning her head against him. “here we are.”

welcome, brother
it was a time for stories after a season apart.
[y/n] watched in complete awe from where she waded above fali and his spirit brother. the scene was bustling with joy, with beauty. nearly every metkayina had a spirit sister or spirit brother of their own, their na’vi hands moving with grace through the thick waters to communicate with the gorgeous tulkuns. the sounds of the creatures reverberated through the water, a beautiful song ringing in [y/n]’s ears.
deaths.
some looked somber. [y/n]’s eyes caught sight of a na’vi that rested his forehead against the side of his spirit brother, a low hum vibrating through the duo. as if, even in the darkest times, there was still comfort in the relationship that they held between them.
births.
some were exuberant. a smile burst onto her lips at the image of an infant taking her first sights at her mother’s spirit sister, bobbing up and down in the water as she took deep breaths of the surface’s oxygen.
old friends.
her eyes traveled to where tsireya swam with her spirit sister, choking back a laugh at the backflip she did when retelling a very exciting story.
new loves.
but, of course, even when there was so much to watch, [y/n]’s sight would always return to the na’vi that floated beneath her.
fali spoke to his spirit brother, epayno, with an exhilarated smile that did not leave his face once. oh, how his childlike wonder made [y/n] melt.
what she did not expect, however, was when he suddenly looked upwards and caught her eyes. his arm raised, gesturing to her to swim down to him. he must have seen the way that her eyes widened for a blip of bubbles left his mouth.
“please, you must meet my spirit brother,” he told her, once again beckoning her to come to them.
she gave him a look before shakily signing, “i do not want to embarrass myself in front of your brother.” she winced as a laugh-like sound echoed from epayno’s body.
fali only sent the tulkun a look before turning back to her. “he wants to meet you. i promise, he will love you. i cannot say that same vice versa.” he smiled at epayno’s offended noise. “i only tease.”
with a nervous shake of her hands, [y/n] pointed her face downward. she began to kick her feet, arms wading their way through the water as she swam towards epayno and fali. once she finally reached the side of her love, a blush errupted onto her face as he grabbed her hand.
with his free hand, he signed, “i introduce you to epayno, and epayno meet ma [y/n]. my yawne.” and there she went again—melting at his mere words!
the creature rumbled, although he sounded very amused. after he was clearly finished speaking, fali turned to [y/n] and translated for her. “he says that you’re very beautiful. and that we look happy together. that is all.”
another wave of sound, this time with an undertone of disagreement.
“yes, that is all he said. nothing more than that!” he side eyed epayno. “because he would never dare say anything inappropriate or violating at all.”
[y/n] suppressed a laugh, although it was difficult. “something tells me that he is more than willing to expose and embarrass you.” she turned to epayno, a smile on her face. “i must learn to understand you soon. i must learn of all embarrassing fali moments!”
a click-like sound vibrated through her ears, although she understood it as more of a chuckle. she sent a teasing wink towards the tulkun at that.
“i told you! of course he would like you.” fali rolled his eyes. “and of course you would make it the bane of my existence.”
“what else would i do but make your life more difficult?”
he smiled, biting his bottom lip to fight back a grin. “maybe give me a kiss?”
she swam closer, grabbing his wrist to pull him onto the flipper that epayno was offering. once they were seated, hands running over the textured skin of the tulkun, he swam upwards and lifted them above the surface.
she grabbed his neck, pulling him into her. “i suppose that can be arranged.”
never did [y/n] expect the night to hold even more pleasantries than the day they just had.
music vibrated through the ground, drums and a melodious tune flowing freely in the veins of every na’vi that danced to the rhythm. a smile overtook [y/n]’s face, her eyes squinted because of the lower half of her face scrunching up into a joyous expression. her jaw was dropped open as she inhaled and exhaled, deeply taking in oxygen to try and regain composure within her lungs as her body moved with each beat of the drum.
beside her danced fali. his face was lit with joy, eyes stuck on [y/n]’s beautiful figure that swayed to and fro. paint swirled over her body, each color highlighting a different one of her features.
the na’vi danced on the beach, waves crashing onto their ankles as they swerved gracefully. their toes sunk into the wet sand, the salty water constantly returning to wash them off.
in the distance, the tulkun sang with the music, their own dance moves causing young children to gasp in astonishment.
“oh, this is wonderful!” [y/n] cried, feet stomping as the shells that were tied around her feet shook against the impact. “almost as good as parties back home.”
“almost?” fali raised his eyebrow muscles at that, his hand grabbing her as he pulled her into a twirl.
she only smirked. “well, i mean, there could be more drinks. less children. you know, that kind of stuff.”
“oh, just wait until the sun goes down!” he teased, hands wrapping around the middle part of her waist to lift her in the air.
she screamed a laugh, hands going straight to his forearms as if she was in imminent danger. “put me down,” [y/n] cried joyfully, tears pricking her eyes due to her uncontrollable laughter.
for once in their time together, the other na’vi paid no attention to the couple. their loud exclamations of happiness were drowned out by the combination of wind, water, dancing, and music. finally, after months of adapting to the metkayina ways, [y/n] and fali were able to dance the night away. together. and not one na’vi bat an eye.
hours passed, but they didn’t stop. soon, they were dancing into the next morning. sure, their feet were sore, their throats hurt, their heads were clouded by alcohol, but they did not care. they could not care.
around them flashed other young na’vi who still raged the dance floor. children were fast asleep back in their maruis, young parents having the burden to care for them, and the older warriors were far too aged to continue dancing for as long as fali, [y/n], and the others had.
occasionally, [y/n] would catch a glimpse of her siblings, although once they spilled into the next morning, kiri and tuk seemed to have disappeared. soon enough, neteyam followed after them, lo’ak eventually being forced to leave tsireya when neytiri ordered him to go home.
the sully parents sat to the side with toniwari, ronal, and both of fali’s parents. they were chatting up a storm, the omaticayans learning everything they could. neytiri was utterly infatuated with the beauty of this cultural aspect. she couldn’t help but try and learn from it.
jake was all too amused with the young adults that stumbled in front of them, their movements drunk and sloppy after a night full of dancing, singing, and drinking.
the amusement faltered the slightest bit when he caught sights of his daughter tripping over her own feet, fali attempting to keep her upright although it was doing more harm than help because he, too, had quite a bit to drink.
jake bit back a laugh when neytiri grabbed his arm, her free hand going to cover her mouth in astonishment. “oh, dear.”
neytiri slammed her forehead into her mate’s bicep when her daughter fell straight into the sand. “oh my eywa.”
the parents of fali were losing their minds as they watched their son attempt to help his love up onto her feet, unfortunately causing him to fall into his knees beside her.
simply put? the adults were howling with laughter.
it took quite a bit of time, but eventually the pair was back on their feet, continuing to try and make progress so they could leave the area that was determined as the “dance floor.” they didn’t even notice their parents.
instead, they were too wrapped up with every other bright flashing color that surrounded them.
while [y/n] was quick to make the smallest, most straight-forward comments to every na’vi that they passed, fali could not get enough of the sully girl. he kept grabbing her hands, pressing kisses against her temples and trying to tempt her to dance with him again. she was far too busy complimenting some metkayina on her jewelry to even fall for it.
and yet, somehow, even when shitfaced and quite out of it, they still managed to be an adorable and compatible couple, something that all the passerbyers idealized, even if some of them judged fali for even going for an outsider.
outsider or not, she was made for him, and he was made for her. and it was beautiful.
maybe an angsty imagine for y/n sully x fali? like something where one of them gets injured really bad someway and the other is upset at them for putting their life in danger and/or being reckless and almost dying (lol) because "I could've lost you" or something like that? I love your writing its just too good ahhh
summary: after fali saves neteyam’s life on the ship, [y/n] is distraught from almost losing her person.

the reason i live
her heart was in her throat, her stomach twisting and turning by the second.
[y/n] sat outside the tsahik’s hut, her knees pulled close to her chest as she stared into the distance. silent tears streamed down her cheeks, panic and worry clouding her thoughts.
all the na’vi could think about was how it could’ve gone differently. how it could’ve gone so he wasn’t hurting, so she wasn’t hurting.
earlier in the evening, maybe an hour or two prior, the sully family returned to awa’atlu after the toruk makto finally put an end to the life of quaritch, after they finally sunk the ship of sky-people that wreaked devastation throughout a planet—a home—that wasn’t theirs.
once [y/n] had been saved from the constraints and danger after quaritch kidnapped her and her sisters, she thought that all was fine when she sunk into the comforting arms of her mother. what she wasn’t prepared for was the sadness that filled the eyes of lo’ak, neteyam, jake, and neytiri when she asked, “where is fali?”
before her panic graduated into anything worse, before she could even shed a tear, her father’s hands on her shoulders brought her back to reality. with a sob stuck in her throat, she stared into the eyes of jake sully.
“he is alive.” [y/n]’d never felt that much relief. “but he is hurt. badly.”
she could barely recall whispering, “what does that mean?”
her mother’s hand was warm on her back. “it means his fate is in the hands of eywa. they are doing what they can.”
ever since their return, [y/n] hadn’t left the small spot in which she sat. she leaned back against the wooden post, arms curled around her knees as she ran each and every possibility through her head.
if she had just stayed with the boys as they went to save spider, if she had just ordered tuk to stay with tsireya, if she had demanded fali stay back. maybe he wouldn’t be dying from a gunshot through his chest.
[y/n] shut her eyes, choking out another sob. at the noise, she clasped a hand overtop her mouth.
as she closed her eyes, as she sat there trying to convince herself that it would be okay, [y/n] hadn’t even noticed the new presence of her brothers. it was only when she felt the thin warmth of her mother’s shawl draped across her shoulders that she looked up.
at the sight of his big sister’s red eyes, lo’ak’s heart broke. from the moment that he was born, lo’ak knew [y/n] to be his big sister, his protector. never once had lo’ak been the one to comfort her. she was their rock, their grounding force. it felt like the world was upside down.
neteyam knew from the sight that words were not enough. everyone had already made the promise that, “it’s going to be okay.” neteyam was not naive enough to believe in that, and he knew his big sister wasn’t either. so, instead of offering a simple sentence that held no comfort, he sat down beside her.
her brother’s body against her chilled sides made goose-bumps rise to [y/n]’s skin, a shiver making its way through her body. at the sight, it wasn’t long before lo’ak sat on the other side of her.
[y/n] inhaled deeply, allowing herself to drop her head back against the wooden post, eyes closed and fighting more tears. she let out a whimper when she felt both of her baby brothers’ heads lean against either shoulder.
the night was chilly, colder than it had ever been during their time in awa’atlu. [y/n] felt that it was the perfect weather to reflect her emotions at the time, although she ran the risk of getting sick every moment that she sat outside of the tsahik’s hut, a detail that every member of the sully family took into mind.
as a result, her baby sisters were next to come wandering from their marui, bundles of neytiri’s hand-weaved blankets in their arms. those blankets, those layers of warmth, were some of the only things that the sully family brought with them from the forest, a sense of home and comfort threaded between each fiber.
two cold hands grabbed [y/n]’s face gently. she opened her eyes, the greeting sight being kiri’s warm expression. between her long nimble fingers she held each side of [y/n]’s face, thumbs lifting to carefully wipe away the tears trailing down her cheeks. not a word was exchanged, but that was all [y/n] needed.
as kiri let her go, tuk grabbed [y/n]’s knees and pulled them down, forcing her to unfold her legs. at the youngest child’s eagerness, [y/n] managed to smile in the slightest.
just like that, with about a thousand blankets and five kids, a huddle of comfort and warmth was created just outside the entrance to the tsahik’s hut. while neteyam and loa’k leaned against her shoulders, kiri laid in her lap, tuk laying horizontally across the girls’ legs.
[y/n] can’t even recall when she drifted off—all she could remember was feeling like she was home.
it was such a juxtaposition, [y/n] thought, that the first thing to wake her up while it felt like her soul was being crushed by every moment that her love laid dying was the beautiful sunrise over the horizon.
the sky was gorgeous, and yet all she could think about was fali. all she could think about was whether or not he lived through the night. immediate guilt flooded her gut. he could be dead and all [y/n] was doing was sleeping.
she swallowed, noticing the lack of warmth she felt from the night before. when she finally blinked the sleep out of her eyes, all she was met with was the sight of blankets that swallowed her whole. not one sully sibling. [y/n]’s nose twitched, her eyes squinting as she felt an oncoming flood.
but, before one tear could drop, somebody exited the hut. before they could even lock eyes with [y/n], she was pushing herself onto her feet, waiting for news. praying he was okay.
“[y/n]!” it was neteyam. and he was smiling. “[y/n], he is okay. he is alive.”
[y/n] could not even think as she practically shoved her baby brother away—causing him to laugh in astonishment—and burst through the hut’s entrance.
ronal stood quietly speaking to fali’s parents, but her discussion was interrupted by [y/n]’s very loud appearance.
she swallowed as her eyes scanned the room, eyes barely even passing over the quiet and teary adults. their expressions warmed at the sight of [y/n], bittersweet smiles passing around the room.
“fali!” [y/n] cried, voice breaking at the sight of the na’vi who laid still on the cot-like spot dedicated to those who the tsahik was healing. the sully girl dropped to her knees beside him.
he chuckled, although it was quiet thanks to the injury. “you look like hell.”
she laughed, tears springing to her eyes as she sniffed. “you don’t look too good yourself.”
her hand held his, the warmth spreading from fali’s into her palm. [y/n] closed her eyes, letting a tear fall from where it’d balanced on her eyelashes.
it was when ronal cleared her throat that she looked back up, turning towards the trio of adults. “we will give you two space. but, please, be quick because there is still much to do.” neither of them missed the smile on the tsahik’s face.
“yes, ma’am,” [y/n] whispered, watching as they exited.
once the adults were gone, [y/n] could not help as finally let go. bursting into tears, she looked at fali. he was alive, but he was not alive. he was pale, he was hurt, he was unhealthy. guilt settled once again.
as she spiraled, as she let go of his hand to cover her mouth, as she let the tears out that’d been swallowed the night before, it was only the quiet voice of fali that brought her back to reality.
“[y/n].” his voice was firm. his hand was warm against her cheek. “[y/n], look at me.” she did. “i am here. i am alive. i see you, [y/n].”
she sunk into his hand, face burrowing into fali’s open palm. “i see you, fali. i see you, and i will see you until i die. i will never let you out of my sight again!”
he laughed at that, wiping her tears. “that is a little much, isn’t it?”
“not if you plan to risk your life again.” she shook her head, grabbing his wrist as she brought it off of her cheek. “speaking of, don’t you ever do that again!”
“[y/n], if i hadn’t done that, your brother would have been dead.”
“fali, if you had let me go with you, maybe you would have both been safe. do you not realize what it would mean if you died, fali? do you not realize what you mean to me?” the tears returned.
“[y/n]...” he attempted, but she was already on a roll.
“fali, i have loved you since the day i learned to breath—and i don’t mean that poetically, it is a literal statement. i have loved you for as long as i have learned to be metkayina, and you are the one who taught this all to me. you are what makes my life here. why would you ever risk taking that away from me?” she swallowed, palms rubbing her eyes. “it sounds so… so selfish, i know, but you are the first thing that i have put so much love into, and the love given back is equal—if not more! you are the first thing i got to claim as my love, my fali. i cannot lose you—if i lose you, i lose myself. if i lose you, i lose the reason that i am alive. i lose the reason that i fight. i lose life itself.”
tears streamed down her cheeks, water clouding her vision. all she felt was warmth intertwined with her fingers.
“i see you, [y/n]. i see you, and i will forever see you. i risk my life because of you. because you, too, are the reason that i live. the reason that i fight. that reason that the sun rises and sets.” he outstretched his arm, cradling her jaw and the back of her neck. “you are why i fought so hard to stay alive.”
she kissed him. first softly, as if she still wasn’t sure he existed or not. as if at any given moment, he would crumble to dust. once she realized that he was real, that he was alive, she kissed him a second time. passionately. longingly. he was hers, and she was his. there was no way of life that could change that.
as their lips interlocked, tears glistened against both of their waterlines, streamlines of water glowing with the sunlight that beamed through the windows.
despite almost dying, fali had never felt so alive.
omg i absolutely love the way you write about the sully family. if it were possible and if it’s your cup of tea, i’d like to request your take on what the sullys would be like in modern day, and if you could incorporate fali and y/n’s relationship into it that would be cool.
a/n: thank you so much for the request !! this was a nice and fun one, very simple, very cute. i also warn you because i may have made this extremely american / east coast-ern based on the way i described their high school experiences , but i pray that it isn't too unenjoyable if you cannot quite relate to the east coast american high school life. hopefully you all enjoy. feedback + reblogs are always appreciated !!
okay so obviously our babes is literally the best older sister, no matter what universe we’re in
she’s def the type to have gotten her license as soon as she possibly could, and she most definitely saved up for car since she was little—after getting a job and money, she honestly has the best car like it's so cute and personalized for herself
y/n is the uber for the siblings—when jake and neytiri are too busy, she is the one to drive everyone around
lo’ak and spider are literally ALWAYS needing rides somewhere
as payment, lo’ak and spider have to pay for her dunkin' ( except it doesn't really matter because she always buys them donuts either way )
on car rides, as long as her parents aren't in the car, she blasts music and lets the kids fight over aux
she’s the oldest, so i assume probably a senior in high school—she is actually so smart like that gpa is popping off, and she most definitely is like vice president of the student government or something
she runs winter track because she always gets so depressed and unproductive during that time of the year, so she tries to keep herself somewhat alive
in the spring, she manages the lacrosse team ( the same team that both fali + neteyam play in bc she’s #1 girlfriend and #1 sister )
she goes to literally every sports event or school event that her siblings are in—she doesn't miss one of lo’ak’s or neteyam’s games, kiri’s orchestra concerts, or tuk’s performances. she also drags fali with her to every single of these events ( not that he minds at all )
yes she’s very smart, but she has terrible geography skills or navigational knowledge—she’s managed to get lost in the very town she grew up in
she wears the same pair of converse every single day and refuses to throw them away even though they have absolutely no support and are about to rip and expose her entire foot.
she never gets sick and she literally hates it because she always wants an excuse to stay home from school ( she is far too responsible to skip class—the one time she did in freshman year, jake found out because she was literally so awkward and nervous when she got home )
whenever she has a lunch shift with one of her siblings—which always happens at least once because she has three of her four siblings in high school with her—she always doordashes something for them ( she knows exactly where to drop it off so she doesn't get in trouble )
carries group projects
neteyam
a sophomore probably based on his age
him and kiri are in a weird amount of classes together, but they don't complain ( they always cheat off each other )
he definitely is a chick magnet just because he’s attractive and nice, and an attractive and nice guy in sophomore year is truly a treasure
the type of guy to get everything ready the night before school to sleep in more
claimed the passenger seat of y/n’s car and is always the quickest to take over aux
really good music taste
he always complains about not having money, but he’s too busy to get a job during the school year due to his full student-athlete schedule ( basketball + lacrosse )
jake loves watching his son’s games
was on jv for both teams the year before, but he made varsity lacrosse this year and the sully family went out for a celebratory dinner
terrible at english, but really good at social studies because he’s actually interested enough to pay attention
chemistry makes him want to die.
absolutely adores going on car rides with his sister because they just scream music and rant — it's their therapy session
probably is dragged to parties by his friends but just ends up being the designated driver
absolutely done with lo’ak’s bs like oml can this freshie leave him tf alone ?? ( no. )
loves days he has lunch with y/n bc they always get some chipotle or something
kiri
hello guys she is amazing in hs like she has a small group of super close friends
stoner.
crystal girl fr with those balanced chakras
took art freshman year but hated it so now just does yearbook with her friends and it's super chill
has a handshake with y/n when they pass each other in the hallway
she and neteyam have an agreement where he cheats off of her for english and math, but she cheats off of him in social studies
they struggle through chemistry together
she plays cello because she randomly started in fourth grade and just never stopped because she found it nice to have something to focus on during her time off
overloads herself with honors and ap classes and her study habits make her regret it every year ( and yet, her gpa eats every single year )
wants to go to berkeley
helped y/n decorate the inside of her car when she first got it
def the type to wear band tshirts and when guys would ask her to “name five of their songs” she would pretend to be stupid because she thought it was funny ( even though she has a very big habit of hyper fixating on different bands + probably knows more about those bands than they did )
proud to say she never joined the stranger things hype ( it's like her biggest accomplishment )
tiktok addict
tried to watch marvel with lo’ak but she didn’t understand anything and ended up falling asleep every single time ( also complained about how annoying tony stark was )
lo’ak
this man is a complete menace
freshman spaz asf
literally always late to getting ready in the morning and y/n screams at him
just learned how to put on deodorant and is now in the middle of leaving behind axe body spray
tried out for soccer because his friends were and was absolutely flabbergasted when he made jv
played basketball with neteyam over the winter and they were absolute pains the entire season ( but they actually played well together, so you win some, you lose some )
always forgets his passwords to things even though he only ever uses the same rotation of five
banned from going to the bathroom during class because of how many times he has skipped class
obsessed with marvel to the point that, just before he entered high school, y/n had to tell him, “please you need to stop. you are giving geek.”
he always trusts his big sister’s judgement, but he still always goes to opening night of every marvel movie with his friends
don't even get me started on how he bagged tsireya
fali def set them up because he knew his close family friend would look so cute with his girlfriend’s younger brother ( he was correct. )
everyone is still floored at how tsireya remains attracted to him, despite his dumb jokes and the fact that he is completely head over heels for her
he always claims he was the rizz master, but… let’s be real… tsireya is the one who completely rizzed him up
like damn girl! that’s extremely impressive!
despite his annoying-ness, as some may put it, he is very respectful—thanks mama sully for drilling the idea into his head from birth that he must always treat every woman with respect
and papa jake who was just like, “yeah!” #feminist
lo’ak probably had an instagram that he only ever uses to post videos of him skating or something, although he occasionally posts videos of tsireya shredding it while surfing ( and he always reposts her stuff—no exceptions! )
tuk
this silly little girl
oh my goodness i love her
an absolute slay in the second grade classroom, like this girl has all the friends
and her bead crafts?? impeccable. out of this world. absolutely amazing.
totally has been sent to the principal for cussing out some guy picking on her or her friends ( thank the sully siblings for that influence )
jake definitely allows her to watch inappropriate movies with him when neytiri goes to bed early
neytiri only realized this when tuk quoted talladega nights one morning after watching an argument between her brothers ( “you've gotta cross the anger bridge and come back to the friendship shore.” )
jake was wheezing for breath
goes all out when sitting in her booster seat in y/n’s car—when her big sister blasts those lyrics, this girl whips screams out the rolled down window with her sofia the first sunglasses on
she is so cute i cannot
she’s never known a life without siblings—not once have jake and neytiri hired a babysitter
absolutely plays all sorts of kiddie sports because she wants to be just like her big brothers
complete soccer star, total baller, and a menace on the lacrosse field ( tbt to when she cross-checked someone a bit too hard )
definitely claimed the color pink and embraces it—she will argue all day with those boys who think it's a “weak girl color”
she once said, and i quote, “this weak girl color can break your arm, jimmy.” meanwhile, she swung a pink baseball bat in her hands at recess
that one got her in trouble for sure
neytiri was proud though
baby of the fam is literally going to grow to be the baddest boss
jake
he is such a military dad—i mean clearly, but especially so in this au because it's socially acceptable
he’s also so funny
has truly grown into the role of a sports dad, always smacking his lips as he rants about how they could improve their game during the car ride home after a game
neteyam and lo’ak want to kill themselves everytime
tuk takes its very seriously
he loves his girls so much
totally knows about kiri and what she does in her pastime ifykwim
he’s chill—been there, done that, just stay safe or else
keeps secrets for the kids from neytiri ( harmless secrets )
always ranting about music and stuff when music that was popular when he was a kid ( ex. beastie boys, any form of 90s hip hop or rap ) when he hears someone listening to it
was gifted the role of being the parent that takes the kids to the er if anything ever happens—based on the influx of sports in their family, stuff has happened, and he’s always there to take them to get stitches or whatever is needed
such a barbecue dad
he has tiktok, but it's full of an fyp that has food stuff and carpenter stuff
so many unfinished house projects
someone needs to save neytiri
speaking of…
neytiri
i love her so much
she’s so involved with her kids’ lives ( not to an unhealthy point, she gives them space )
is thoroughly invested in her children’s events and extracurriculars
major protective sports mom energy
definitely helps run concessions and sell tickets whenever they need extra help
so much road rage. like so so much.
hates when she isn’t driving—she needs the control
will not let y/n drive her anywhere
podcasts and audiobooks are her lifeline
tea drinker for sure
always attempts to test those keto diets but gives up after like three hours
i see her as a high school math teacher
the students respect her
they fear her
she totally makes her favorite students clear and they like adore her
loyal to her keurig
cherishes her mug from mother’s day a few years ago that reads number 1 mom
has pictures of her kids on her desk
always threatens her children that if they continue to misbehave, she’s going to replace their pictures at home with the pictures of her favorite students
sometimes they can't tell if she’s joking or not
best dressed mom ever
fali
oh my goodness this man
i think i fell for my own oc help
anyway
friend of the world
everyone knows him
type of person to have good grades based on his dazzling charisma alone
super athletic
student-athletes are where it's at
always drives to school with y/n, and they take turns driving
no matter who is driving, the car is always full of him, y/n, kiri, neteyam, lo’ak, and spider ( sullys’ next door neighbor )
on the rare occasion in which all six of them don't have stuff to do after school, they all go drive to shake shack and get milkshakes and cheesy fries ( for my lactose intolerant readers, fali always has emergency lactaid in his car for you )
the employees at chipotle know his exact order because of the amount of times he has been
he’s a burrito addict ( which is gross, because of all burritos… chipotle ?? )
fali and y/n’s favorite movie to watch together tangled, like they can recite every line together ( y/n plays flynn rider + fali plays rapunzel—they both play mother gothel, so i suggest staying far away during mother knows best )
couple goals—they were literally voted in the superlatives as the “mom and dad” of their senior class
nobody could disagree
when their team won states, y/n gave fali the biggest, cutest, most earth shattering smooch
everyone awed and took pictures
except for neteyam who just stood and watched, pretending to be annoyed that his big sister went to fali before going to him
