the unforeseen effects of playing fallout 4: alien hell winter aka man becomes okay at videogames???
Context: so firstly alien hell winter the modpack is this hellish borderline unplayable experience i have concocted for fallout 4 and i made it into its own au and everything. Fallout is also the first game of its kind that I actually loved playing for a massive amount of reasons (also splatoon2) so i REALLY didnt have any experience with the ole shooty kinds of games until may of this year when i became the fallout boy<3
anyways context over so i played fallout 76 around the same time i just started playing new vegas and i stopped 76 for a long time until now and i am realizing how playing AHW accidentally made me??? better at 76???
i mean like obviously I was gonna be a bit better bc . i played the other games more but i noticed im better in a different kind of way . like I hung onto AWH strategies without thinking—things I basically never do in games since my strategies are 40% actual planning and 60% KILLKILLKILL ATTACK KILL!!!!
but in alien hell winter doing the ole rush everything in your path method very . rarely works in the slightest. so i learned pretty quickly to not immediately run into the open when i see a new area, dont rush in without thinking, pay attention to ammo, and invest in a lotttt of HP . this is probably obvious to most people however not me at all WGWGWGWGWGAJSHWGWG . especially since charisma is not very useful in AHW as nearly everything is going to kill you on sight
i never invest into sneak because why kill enemy slow when run fast and get done fast? but now its like “i ain’t risking all my shit for something that might not be worth it . if im going in im gonna make sure i survive” like its so opposite to how i normally play its bizarre and also cool . usually id put points straight away into intelligence bc i heart medicine but now its instinctively endurance since im like my gayass is NOT dying to something I completely missed on accident
