After 4 years of being on hiatus we wanted to officially acknowledge that our filmmaking collective has disbanded.

We are so proud of all the work we made, and we loved sharing it with you all. Your gifs, analysis, letters, writing, art, and comments made us feel so lucky. Creating these stories was such a special time in our lives and we can’t thank you enough for being a part of it. We could not have made our 5 webseries in 5 years without your awhi, love, and support. We will be forever grateful for the support of our Kickstarters which allowed us to continue making series, and never forget our fandles or flamangoes.

While as a collective we have gone our separate ways, we are all continuing to be creative folks and if you follow our various social media you will see what we get up to next.

We will continue to post as The Candle Wasters from time to time — NMTD turns 10 next year and we’ll be sure to acknowledge that!

Finally, we are releasing several videos from our YouTube Drafts as part of the final updates to the Kickstarters for Lovely Little Losers and Bright Summer Night. You will see these on your feed. After that, we will not be releasing any further original content on YouTube as The Candle Wasters, though there will be other updates from us as individuals from time to time. Hi! Can you just clarify a bit about how you came to use Patreon? What will the money be supporting each month? Also will all the rest of the LLL Kickstarter stretch goal fulfillments only be available to patrons? I guess I'd just love to know some of the logic & that went into decision, you guys are always very mysterious :) Love your work though & your passion to grow as creators! xo

Hiya!We had a LOT of discussions about using Patreon, chiefly centered around how we felt it may be in bad taste for some for us to launch it with a video for Kickstarter. In the past, we have raised funds for particular projects, however as we are wanting to move this into being a full time job - so we can do more for those who support our work, and pay everyone who should be paid - we need to ensure we can actually afford to do so. With two projects on the go coming up we felt it would make more sense to get a regular amount of funding coming in rather than one off fundraisers for each project. This does not mean we won’t return to Kickstarter in future if we think it may be necessary. All of the LLL Kickstarter rewards will be made publically available. We will simply be giving Patrons early access to our videos. Ultimately, we have found that with the LLL Kickstarter we bit off far more than we could chew and it has meant a delay on releasing those videos as we prioritise work on current projects (LLL, BSN, and now HPLW & TCWS) so peeps would get the thing they supported. We are very conscious of all the videos we promised with the LLL Kickstarter and are just as disappointed as y’all that they’re not out yet. At the same time, we don’t regret putting our energies into the current projects as they are the Actual Webseries. It would just be great to have enough time to do both. Hence, Patreon.Ah dear about the mystery!! We don’t intend to be. Side effect of promoting other people’s faces? If you ever have any questions don’t hesitate to ask, we’ll do our best to answer them ASAP. Thank you for sticking with us and we hope you continue to enjoy the work we produce (if you don’t that’s also totally cool though - everyone is learning and growing and tastes change) <3
