i think there's something to be said about nd stans and the deeply personal offense they experience when they see multi/cassunzel shippers joking about rapunzel getting a divorce or simply saying how they prefer cassunzel over nd, for whatever reason. sure boohoo people are snarky but let's not act like it's worse than people outright calling cassandra a bitch or OC or make some other generally reductive or misogynistic remark. like i see the selective outrage. pls.

also. like. eugene was at least in part workshopped in a 'hot man meeting.' are we really surprised that he might not resonate with all the sapphics in fandom. can we look beyond ourselves for one moment. i feel like there's this inability to consider that cassunzels may not even hate the guy; they could be multi-shippers or just have a preference. this isn't a zero-sum game. it's not rocket science. :''D

the obtuseness and addiction to outrage is so peculiar. once again tangled must be studied in a lab because what is this lmao. the nders who frame shipping as a canon-compliance contest and use xyz thing as further evidence of rapunzel and eugene's everlasting love for each other strike me as weirdly defensive/insecure, lacking perspective, and feeling like they're bringing in an answer/rebuttal to a question/argument that simply does not exist.

i don't want to add to the noise of shipping discourse in the tag lately, but man don't y'all get tired. i've never been into cassarian and am Firmly Indifferent towards it at best, but ppl who preach against the ship will be infinitely more annoying than the actual shippers will ever be. and, frankly, I shouldn't have to qualify this statement by mentioning I don't personally like the idea of These Two Characters Kissing, but this fandom's general double standards around shipping; sloppy, inconsistent 'rules' about media consumption and fanwork; and the deliberately obtuse, bad faith assumptions about a person's moral character based on a fictional ship just perpetuate an unnecessarily hostile and weirdly puritanical environment.

like next to nd, this ship has such vanilla fic and art (which is fine, that's genuinely not a dig, but like--); the way people talk about it is so disproportionately sensational compared to what you're really seeing. like can we be real for a second here. and sure, it's well within your rights not to socialize or associate with someone if their ships bother you that much, but it doesn't make the extra step of conflating their fictional interests with their values as an actual person any less short-sighted or harmful.

i know this post sounds pissy, but i'm imploring people to reevaluate how you process and contextualize media and fiction, especially in relation to a person behind a random doodle or piece of fic. the moral outrage feels very theatrical and the distress intolerance to it feels socially perpetuated in the sense that there isn't much thought behind it, it's just parroted. and what may be discomfort is warped and unhealthily internalized as a greater repulsion to a fandom bogeyman.
