Day 6: Saturday, June 13
Today's prompts are:
Nightmare
Kiss
I was thinking about signing up as a writer but I have a question
If i have a long fic I want to split into 2-3 separate books, would that be all right?
The first book is almost finished (not published yet) and unrelated to anything I have on my ao3 account tho I do have a couple posts about it on my tumblr (it's also over 80k so it more than qualifies word count wise). I would sign up with this one and what I'm hoping is the big bang would help me finish the second book as well and also I've been dying to share this work because I've been working on it for years and I only talk about it sporadically with one other person.
Hello, thank you for the question. Yes, that would be absolutely fine. The rules prohibit sequels, but that doesn't apply here. The concern normally is that we want people to read a work and not need any outside knowledge beyond standard fandom knowledge.
Plus a bigger factor is the pairing is meant to be anonymous and if you are proposing a sequel then artists could figure out who you are during the pairing process, and an important feature of the Big Bang is that the pairings are not based on existing friendships or people really wanting to draw for a specific writer.
But here we don't run into any of those issues. The first part in a series doesn't require any external knowledge, and it would not give away your identity because no other part of the series has been published yet.
Thank you again for the question!
Hello! I filled out the second check in, but now I'm wondering if I misunderstood the WIP promo thing. I said no in my check in because it sounded like I'd have to share my entire WIP with the mods and you guys would decide on a part to share, which doesn't work for me since I do a ton of editing before any posting a fic and I'm not at the editing point yet. Is that what the WIP promo thing meant, or did I misunderstand?
Hi there! Thanks for filling out your check-in already.
Keeping in mind that sharing any part of your WIP is entirely optional and you don't have to send us anything at all, if you do want to share your WIP you can absolutely send just a portion of it. One of our creators sent a 5-page excerpt from a 38-page (!) document – that's perfectly fine! If there's a bit that feels polished enough to share, or a scene you particularly like, or etc., we'd love to see it.
If you send us some of your WIP, and if you agree to let us share a little teaser from it, then yes, we will choose a snippet from whatever portion of your WIP you send to us – but, as mentioned on the form, we'll also check with you before posting to be sure you're okay with the snippet we've selected.
And again, every part of this is optional. You're more than welcome to send us a preview of your WIP and ask us not to share it! We know that many of our creators are excited to share what they're making, and we (the mods) are as curious as anyone else about what you've got cooking up. But it's your work, your process, and it's entirely up to you if you want to let the mods or the fandom at large see a sneak peek.
☽ EVENT DETAILS ☾
⭐︎ This is going to be a free-for-all type of event, in that you won't be beholden to specific prompts on specific days. As previously mentioned, this event coincides with the end of kinktober and you're free to use those prompts here as well.
⭐︎ All types of fanworks are encouraged including but not limited to gifsets, drawings/visual/digital art, fanfic, web weavings, etc. Please use the #sangdonszn tag to make sure it gets posted here.
⭐︎ No AI is allowed.
⭐︎ Fics can be submitted to the AO3 collection or here on tumblr with the #sangdonszn tag. The collection will be moderated and (if I understand this feature correctly) won't be made public (by me the mod) until the week of the event. You don't have to submit to the collection, but it's there and open for business now if you want to.
⭐︎ Any questions, please send an ask!
Hi mods! If we’ve already finished and posted our assignment do we still need to check in or are we marked as done on your end?
Hi there! Please do still check in if you've already finished and posted, as it helps us to track what stage each of our participants is at – in this particular check-in we also have a couple of questions for creators who have already finished. (For example, we'd like to start posting teasers to the blog to get people excited – small crops or short snippets from our creators' posted works or WIPs – but we won't post any portion of any creator's work without permission.)
Some of our creators who have already posted one (or more) works to the collection have claimed an additional prompt or may plan to claim another prompt if they have time, so we don't make any assumptions about how done with the event anyone is, regardless of whether they've posted or not, until/unless they let us know.
Maze Runner Remix Event Announcement!
(ᵔᵕᵔ)◜Greetings everyone, welcome to this new event I (Kestis) and Vox have put up together for the fandom. We want to celebrate the amazing works that keep our little corner of the internet alive, and add some chaos to the mix. But we can't do it alone, so I'll let Thomas and Vox fill you in on what is going on.

What is a remix? A remix is a fanwork inspired by another fanwork. Examples of remixes include (but aren’t limited to!): prequels, sequels, alternate POVs, side stories, alternate universes, illustrations, and fanfiction of artwork.
Find the schedule and the rules of the event [HERE].
If you have any questions, feel free to send this blog an ask, or message us on discord!
