Hi hello I need help coming up with a term for something please.

So, say you do not ship something. It makes no sense in your brain for whatever reason. It is not something you can see happening within the realm of the story nor do you really want it to happen.

But like…all the GOOD fanfic is of that one ship. And the fics are really, really good. So you consume.

And you STILL don’t ship the characters at all. But whenever they’re in a scene together you can’t help but be a bit giddy. Kicking and squealing if you will. Or whenever they interact in any way your immediate reaction is, “look at them they’re so in love, the freaks.”

However if they kissed in canon you’d be a bit miffed. Like, wtf? That should not happen. How did this happen? This makes no sense. I did not ask for this ship to sail. Turn it around. Get it back to port.

What do I call this phenomenon?
