There’s another new buzz word I have learned to dislike immensely, with a passion of a fiery sun... almost up there with ‘problematic’. And that is ‘lazy writing’.
I understand it in the context if a story is written with the most obvious clichés - although even then I would query weather that was actually the intention of the writers; to write a story using clichés. But these days it seems that it is often used to describe any writing that the reader/watcher didn't like.
Your (general you) OTP didn’t get together? Lazy writing! There was a plot twist you didn’t like? Lazy writing! Things were left out the story that you had to deduct yourself instead of being spoon-fed by the writer and that left you confused? Lazy writing!
Maybe it was not so lazy after all, maybe you just weren’t as clever as you thought and missed some of the nuances? Maybe there was a reason the writers preferred this plot or pairing over the one you liked?
It is almost like anything that the reader/watcher didn't like is now chucked into the ‘lazy writing’ basket and I am just getting tired of it... 🙄
*walking around heated rivalry fandom shaking hands with mutuals i haven't shared a fandom with in over a decade*
i should sell a line of high end, overpriced, sleekly packaged calming tea.
and i'll call it iCan't.
the thing is
i really love my shows.
and i would sing their praises from the rooftops without a second thought.
but what i love even more than my shows?
the fandom.
i really, really love you guys
and the edits you make
and the poems you write
and just...
sob
I really, really hate it when people are like “oh youre wasting all your time watching tv and you won’t amount to anything.” The things I love and care about may not be the same as what you love and care about. But that doesn’t mean they’re worth any less than what you care about And you have absolutely no right to belittle something that may mean the world to me
