Jim as Spock’s T’hy’la, kept safe in his tent when Spock goes off to hunt or fight. Jim as Spock’s strategy master, knowing how and when to strike the enemy. Jim as a deceptive force, seen as more of a pretty bauble adorned in silks and jewels to entertain Spock, but always the first one to make that subtle threat and slip poison into a goblet.

Headcanon: Jim had actually heard a lot about Spock before he was assigned the 5 year mission, and was nervous about having to meet Spock for the first time, not that he would ever show it, but there was something about Spock Jim just knew he would come to love. Because everything he'd seen and read about Spock just pulled him in, and Jim knew he was already attracted to Spock's brain, like for real. And he hoped he would be able to keep it together during their first meet and greet. ;)

Meanwhile, Spock is so worried about meeting Jim. Captain Pike was good to Spock in a very passive way. From what Spock’s heard, Jim is warm and friendly with his crew and Spock is worried about how he will interact with his new commanding officer. And then he meets Jim, and realizes he didn’t think about how luminous a person Jim is. and that is when Spock knows he’s royally screwed.
