❛ as a long time ally of house atreides , lord jorgan deni’s final wish was for the red duke to marry his only daughter , eria, to solidify their allegiance . unable to say no to the man he viewed as a second father , leto agreed to the match . as a result , eria is warmly welcomed into the duke’s circle upon her father’s death . however , a year passes and no actions are made for their union . instead , eria is treated as a concubine , much like his beloved lady jessica . excuses are passed to explain the stalling of their union , but eria knows the truth . leto never planned to marry her . no , he made himself a promise long ago that he would never marry for political reasons . what’s more , his heart lies with his dearest jessica . between his favored concubine and his prodigal son , paul , there’s no room left in his heart for her . that much is clear to eria . perhaps it would have been beneficial to have figured all of that out earlier ; before she fell for him . before her heart began to beat solely for him . she is strong enough to bury her pain behind smiles and laughter , but could she bury her love ? ❜
