On The Run - closed thread
This was wrong, he had known that for a long time, but this absolutely took the cake. When he had first seen the cowboy he looked like he was on the verge of death, arm missing and barely clinging onto conciousness.
Of course, he hadn’t thought about it for long after, he had only ever gotten a glance of the man, but after almost two years.. He got curious. He went digging through the files Talon had on their Assets - the man looked like he had potential after all, and Talon never wasted potential - and he found a set of logs. What was written in them, the experiments conducted on the man.. if he would have had a fully biological digestive system, his stomach would have flipped, but since all that was largely artificial he could only feel the memory of it.
That night was the night he decided he needed to bail, which included dragging the Vampire along. His plans were meticulous in every detail - he couldn’t risk getting caught, it would end disasterously for both himself and the Vampire. Thus, he made sure every scenario was accounted for - and for once he was thankful for his tendency of overthinking things - and after months of planning and deciding it was time to actually set that plan into action.
Talon had become complacent, its Agents and Soldiers letting their guard down around him, forgetting how dangerous he can be and is. Thus, it was easy evading their night patrols, stuffing a duffle bag full of food (and blood bags for the man whose name he had found out to be Jesse Mccree), some spare clothing (he needed to blend in somehow, after all), tools needed for maintaining his visor and body and other small things that would make life on the road easier, including ever so carefully lifting quite a bit of money out of Talon’s coffers.
He found Mccree’s cell relatively easy, unlocking it with a stolen keycard and the code he found in an encrypted document, opening the heavy metal door. “No time for questions, we have about 10 minutes before they figure out what I’ve done. We’re getting out of here.”, he kept himself to the point, he had no time for rambling. And before the cowboy could even think of asking a single question, Genji grabbed him by the arm, dragging him - with surprising ease - around Talon’s patrols and away from the base and into the nearby forest line, only letting go when he was sure that they were far enough into the forest that search lights couldn’t reach them.
