Fantasy Hoops – Daily Adds 2/12/21

In season long leagues I look to keep one spot available on my roster that can be used to pick up a player to plug into my lineup every day.  It’s a tradeoff between a low end player that maybe gets you 10-12 fantasy points per game (but is only playing 3-4 games per matchup) and getting a player of a similar level that can be plugged into your lineup every day.

Who I’m looking at today:

Lou Williams (Available in 40% of leagues): I talked about Lou Williams on Wednesday and if he’s still out there he should be your top target.  He posted a 27/5/4 line against Minnesota on Wednesday night and gets another favorable matchup tonight against the Bulls

Hamidou Diallo (Available in 60% of leagues): Diallo has scored in double figures in 11 straight games and has played over 30 minutes in his last five. You can count on at least a handful of rebounds and assists to go along with his scoring.

Rui Hachimura (Available in 54% of leagues): Hachimura has played at least 23 minutes in his last 8 games and has scored in double figures in 5 of those games.  He’s grabbed at least 5 rebounds in 7 of his last 8 games and you can usually throw a few assists in there too.

Looking ahead to the weekend on Saturday I like Juan Toscano-Anderson (90%) and Kendrick Nunn (63%). Toscano-Anderson has recorded at least 8 rebounds in 4 of his last 5 games and has scored at least 8 points in 5 of his last 6.  Kendrick Nunn has scored in double figures in 11 straight games and has played at least 30 minutes in 10 straight.  He’s seeing an increased role with Goran Dragic sidelined with an ankle injury. On Sunday take a look at Josh Hart (83%) and Frank Kaminsky (95%).  Josh Hart – the dude just gets rebounds and he should be in a good spot to grab plenty of those on Sunday against Detroit. Kaminsky has been starting in place of the injured Jae Crowder and has been making the most of the opportunity – in his last four games he’s posted lines of 15/5/1, 9/9/2, 9/5/5 and 14/8/8. His production could dip some if Crowder returns to the starting lineup but Kaminsky has shown the ability to put up good numbers in almost all categories.  

Remember – when in doubt, go for guys that are getting good playing time and crash the boards for free points.

Gary Trent Jr. (Available in 59% of leagues): Trent Jr. has seen his role increase with the injury to CJ McCollum. He’s scored in double figures in 8 of his last 9 games and has played at least 30 minutes in 7 of his last 9

Kelly Olynyk (Available in 70% of leagues): Olynyk has scored at least 11 points in 5 of his last 6 games, including at least 15 points in the last 3.  Over the last two weeks he’s averaging 12.5 points and 6 rebounds

Juan Toscano-Anderson (Available in 88% of leagues): Toscano-Anderson has been given more playing time due to the injury to James Wiseman and he’s been making the most of it.  He’s averaging 10 points and 8 boards on over 50% shooting over the last 5 games since his playing time increased.

Celtics Big Men : Daniel Theis and Tristian Thompson are available in most ESPN leagues (75% and 84% respectively) and have a decent matchup against a smaller Toronto front court. Theis has been steady all season, averaging 9.6 points and 5 boards, while Thompson 7 points and 8.4 boards

 Who I’m looking at today :

Josh Hart (Available in 90% of ESPN leagues) – Hart is coming off a 20 point, 17 rebound game last night against Houston.  Today he’s on a back to back in Chicago against the Bulls.  He’s averaging almost 28 minutes per game over the last 15 days while averaging 10/8/2.5 on near 50% shooting.  A rebounding guard with scoring upside

Lou Williams (Available in 50% of leagues) – Lou Will has scored 15 or more in three straight games and should see his role increase with Paul George out with an injury.  The Clippers play one of the worst defensive teams in the league tonight in Minnesota

Donte DiVincenzo (Available in 40% of leagues) – DiVincenzo should see an increased role on the Bucks with Jrue Holiday expected to miss at least 10 days due to the NBAs health and safety protocols.  Against Denver on Monday night Donte posted a 13/7/2/3/2 line in 31 minutes.  He doesn’t turn the ball over much and will get you points in nearly every category

If you’re in a pinch look for rebounds.  Jeff Green (86%), Paul Milsap (80%) and Kyle Kuzma (70%) are all averaging 6 or more rebounds over the last two weeks.  Green and Kuzma should see increased playing time this week while KD and AD are dealing with health & safety protocols/injuries and you’re almost guaranteed at least 10 fantasy points from Milsap

The County Week 4 stat box. Clearly I am sore about our first defeat, but the foe was mighty and a few glaring articles appear to me that address the deficiencies in production. Let me begin with the faint bright side. Rebounds & steals maintained from last week (overall down from Week 2) and I gained in blocks by one! (Can you read my sarcasm?) The spiral downward in all other categories is troublesome though. It means two things. My players have tapered off in their over-production & are beginning to plateau in mediocrity. In addition, role players like Randy Foye, Kevin Martin, Al-Farouq Aminu & Carl Landry are having their own issues with minutes, injuries & teammates returning. Their lack of support was felt dearly and my patience can only endure so many of these weak performances before I attempt trades or outright swap them for available talent. Keep an eye on this motley crew, I will tweet regarding them as I decide fates. Also in my desperation to pull out a victory, I began playing the free-agent roulette wheel on Friday (dropped Kyle Singler) but was unable to even come close with spot plays out of Gary Neal & Kevin Seraphin. Still, I am keeping Neal since he & Markieff Morris (dropped Derrick Williams) have entered their respective starting rotations, they could be in-line for decent opportunities ahead, and will remain for now. Again, keep up with me on twitter for their value. Finally, LaMarcus Aldridge has been hampered by a stiff neck & back. Not something I can really complain about, but after Wade's bug last week I am hoping to get back to full strength this week. Going from third to seventh is motivating, and I plan in turning it into results this week, now if only I got to play for my own fantasy team...

The County Week 3 stat box. At-a-glance I like the upswing in assists & downswing on turnovers from last week. Down Dwayne Wade to injury I could not be more pleased with this outcome. I was trailing all week until Sunday when my final 8 starts out-lasted his 3 in the end stretch. And so even without Wade, we prevailed showing quality depth. My deficiency in rebounding, steals & blocks would have been not so if he had gamed up towards the tail of the match-up though. Still, I shouldn't complain, but my opponent is riding out a storm of injuries including Andrew Bynum, Steve Nash & Nene Hilario which makes me think we should have won by more. Somehow though they put up a really solid fight and I feel lucky to escape on the right side of the match-up. I made two moves by bringing on Kyle Singler & Derrick Williams to counter an injury to Kahwi Leonard & also the return of Anthony Davis which has made Robin Lopez virtually forgotten in New Orleans. Onto the next one!

The County Week 2 stat box. Decent enough shooting & free-throw percentages, along with points & rebounds, but I would like to see my assists go up & turnovers go down this week. No significant changes or moves so far. I like where this team sits.
