--- Mairi had only been in Skyhold for one night. She arrived rather late in the day, and was far too tired to bother with the grand tour, or any such thing. Instead, she was simply shown to her room, where she could relax a bit and go to bed. Rufus, her mabari hound who had tagged along with her, wasted no time in finding the bed and falling asleep. The next morning, however, Mairi felt rested enough to actually see what Skyhold had to offer. Instead of asking one of the Advisers for a run-down, she slipped away to look around on her own. Rufus trekked beside her, alert and looking at everything with wide eyes. Eventually, they neared a type of small building, and Rufus began to bark endlessly at it. His was not the only barking Mairi heard, however, and it seemed the Inquisition had their share of hounds for the coming battles. Good. After asking around a bit, she discovered that there was indeed a dog kennel, and it was apparently being run by an Avvar wolf hunter.
Mairi had hardly any knowledge of the Avvar at all, so hearing this had immediately sparked her curiosity, and willed her investigate said kennel. That, and the idea that there dogs there. If she had known that, she would have joined the Inquisition far sooner. She neared the kennel, looking around for the Avvar and giving the smallest smile to the various dogs.
“Anyone around?” She called out. Her eyes inspected her surroundings, one hand dropping for a dog to sniff. Her next words came quieter, muttered in her usual sarcastic tone. “If not, I might be looking to change my position here.”
