Last month I bought a lot of Aladdin model sheets off eBay, specifically for this height chart. It also came with sheets for Razoul, Abu and a lot of Rajah, so if anyone wants me to scan those too, let me know
Hey there, how are you doing today? I was thinking about Mirage and what her backstory was with Fasir.
Hey, I'm having a pretty good day today, what about you?
I never really thought much about her backstory. I've had a few thoughts, but they're not detailed enough and describe her past in general terms.
First of all, since Mirage looks like an Egyptian deity, I think both she and Chaos (remember him?) were among the local deities of one of the cults (like the cult of Isis, the cult of Seth...) Over time, the cult began to lose members, and in addition Mirage went down a path similar to that of the Egyptian god Seth. To explain - she, as well as Seth, used to be a deity who was perceived in a positive way, but over time was demonised by the followers of other cults. After the cult collapsed, she moved her temple to Morbia and hardened herself against humans. For a period of time, she existed aimlessly. Further, like any personality with a lot of power, she became spoilt by that power, realising that she could inflict misfortune and suffering uncontrollably at her pleasure. This was the beginning of her villainous ways, and she soon realised herself as a sadist and began to revel in the suffering of living beings.
Where does her relationship with Fasir play into this? She met Fasir after she lost her cult and was confused about how to go on. Fasir became a support for her and at some point they bonded and became a couple (I like to think that's when Mirage made the first move).
And after that she started to change as I described above. When her behaviour began to show preconditions for sadism, Fasir, like many loving people, thought he could fix her and really tried to keep her from doing evil. Mirage, who felt herself superior to Fasir (she is a goddess, he is not), was displeased and offended by this and saw Fasir's attempts to keep her on a good path as a man's attempts to put himself above her and suppress her. She was the one who broke off the relationship and severed contact with Fasir.
That's all I think about it.
Bonus drawing of Mirage and Fasir in love:
Fasir's design is based on this picture, but I added an eye patch for him:

Epilogue
In the '90s animated Aladdin show, Jasmine turned into a horrifying, snake-person hybrid that might actually draw from Hindu mythology.
I don't know which decision by the Aladdin writers was more baffling:
-To establish that Fasir, one of the most powerful and mysterious characters, and Fashoom, a forgettable monster of the week who dies almost immediately, are brothers.
-or the fact that this is only mentoined in passing once and their relationship is never brought up again.
Fasir is an ex-lover to Mirage! Mirage! And they mention that in one episode and then never again!
I'd forgotten about it, but apparently Fashoom appears in a story that Genie tells Kaveed and Yani in Caught By The Tale, and one more time as a threat created by Genie's sickness in Sneeze the Day. So Fashoom was apparently memorable enough to the creators to keep bringing him back in cameos, but not enough to give him any more of a character than what we learned from Fasir.
Ep. Eye of the Beholder
Mirage: Why do you persist in tormenting me, Phasir?! You're so tiresome with your hopeless causes.
Phasir: On the contrary. It is you who have the hopeless cause. Good shall always triumph over evil for love is the strength of good.
Mirage: *scoffs* Love! It is no more than a tingly feeling. It is weak!
